Also on the evening of June 20, at the Hanoi Opera House, President To Lam and President Putin met with leaders of the Vietnam Friendship Association and generations of former Vietnamese students who studied in Russia. The meeting took place in a warm, friendly atmosphere with the participation of nearly 400 guests who have had many attachments and love for the country, people and culture of Russia. Speaking at the meeting, President Vladimir Putin expressed his joy to return to visit Vietnam; was moved to meet and exchange with Vietnamese friends and always received warm feelings from generations of former Vietnamese students who studied in Russia, sincere friends of Russia, who have had time to be attached to and understand the country and people of Russia.

He also expressed his admiration for the beloved President Ho Chi Minh of the Vietnamese people, as well as the indomitable and heroic spirit of the Vietnamese people in the past struggle for national independence and the current cause of national development and construction. The Russian leader expressed his hope that generations of former Vietnamese students will continue to be a bridge for younger generations of Vietnam to better understand the culture, country and people of Russia, contributing to preserving and developing the traditional friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.

Recalling the Russian proverb "no wealth can compare to friendship", "one old friend is better than two new ones", the President emphasized that the Vietnamese people always deeply appreciate and remember the close ties and loyalty of Russian friends. In the context of complicated developments in the world and the region, Vietnam and Russia will continue to promote the tradition of solidarity and mutual trust, continue to stand side by side, help each other overcome difficulties and challenges for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
