On behalf of the leaders of Tuyen Quang province, there were comrades: Chau Van Lam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Tuyen Quang province; Le Thi Kim Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the province from different periods; comrades of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, members of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders of departments, branches, sectors, socio-political organizations of the province and a large number of people from all walks of life, soldiers of the armed forces and students.

Opening the Tree Planting Festival launching ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Quoc Tri reported on the implementation results of the Prime Minister's Project on planting one billion trees, phase 2021-2025, dated April 1, 2021.

After 3 years of implementation, the whole country has planted 770 million trees, reaching 121%, including: 335 million scattered trees; concentrated afforestation reached over 212 thousand hectares with 435 million trees. In 2023 alone, the whole country planted 260 thousand hectares of concentrated afforestation and 127 million scattered trees, contributing to ensuring a stable supply of raw materials for the processing industry; the export value of forest products in 2023 reached 14.4 billion USD; the output of exploited planted forest wood reached over 32 million m3 of wood; the forest cover rate was maintained at over 42%; for the first time, our country sold forest carbon credits, earning nearly 1,200 billion VND. Tuyen Quang is one of the localities leading in the progress of project implementation.

Speaking at the Tree Planting Ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that over the past 6 decades, since President Ho Chi Minh launched the Tree Planting Festival, the tree planting and forest planting movement has become a fine traditional cultural feature of our people, contributing to beautifying the beauty of Vietnam, a practical action to protect the environment, protect life, and promote sustainable and civilized development. President Ho Chi Minh was the initiator and endless inspiration for the Tree Planting Festival movement with his famous verse: "Spring is the Tree Planting Festival, making the country more and more springy".

President Vo Van Thuong acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and solidarity of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Tuyen Quang province, who have always promoted the tradition of the revolutionary homeland of the Capital of the Liberation Zone and the Capital of Resistance, with many innovations and creations to build Tuyen Quang to develop more and more, arouse and promote the potentials and advantages, including the development of forestry to become the key economic sector of the locality, making Tuyen Quang the leading province in the region and the whole country in planting, developing and protecting forests. With its glorious revolutionary tradition and experience, the President suggested that Tuyen Quang continue to promote the results achieved in planting, caring for and protecting forests, for a sustainable green economy, making an important contribution to combating climate change, limiting natural disasters and preserving a clean environment for future generations.

Afforestation must always go hand in hand with forest protection, so it is necessary to constantly raise awareness, have effective measures to protect forests, prevent and repel all acts of deforestation, forest burning, and illegal forest exploitation; increase investment in research and application of science and technology in afforestation and forest product processing, have many good policy mechanisms to support, promote and encourage rapid and sustainable forestry economic development.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of the Tree Planting Festival, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Son emphasized that spring is the season of freshness and development and it is an honor and pride that on the first working day of the new year of Giap Thin, Tuyen Quang province had Comrade Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Comrade Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of central agencies participating in the Tree Planting Festival. This is a great motivation for Tuyen Quang to strive to compete to complete socio-economic goals, ensure national defense and security in 2024 and the following years.

In 2023, with solidarity, unity, high determination, great efforts, and drastic actions, the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Tuyen Quang province promoted patriotic emulation movements, creating great strength to overcome difficulties and challenges and achieve many important and comprehensive results in all fields.

Notably, the province's economy continued to develop, with a GDP growth rate of 7.46%; many important infrastructure projects were completed, opening up new development space for the province such as: Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway; urban development axis road from Tuyen Quang city to Yen Son district center; starting and speeding up the progress of Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway project and many other infrastructure projects...

That achievement is a solid foundation for 2024, Tuyen Quang province to accelerate and make a breakthrough to complete the goals of the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that, promoting the pride of the Capital of the Liberated Zone, the Capital of Resistance, promoting the spirit of patriotic emulation initiated by President Ho Chi Minh, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Tuyen Quang province continue to unite, be creative, proactively overcome difficulties and challenges, determined to complete and exceed the targets of the 2024 plan, soon completing the goal of making Tuyen Quang a fairly developed, comprehensive and sustainable province in the Northern mountainous region.

Immediately after the President's drumbeat to launch the Tree Planting Festival, the tree planting competition spirit spread throughout the localities in the province. More than 3,000 acacia and tissue-hybrid acacia trees were planted, opening the tree planting season for the province in 2024.
