(Dan Tri) - Near Lunar New Year, the landlord Nguyen Thi Kim Hong organized a party and invited singers to join in the fun at the boarding house. She also gave each worker who rented the room 100,000 VND as lucky money.
At rush hour, workers in the boarding house on Tran Thanh Mai Street (Binh Tan District) return home after a long day of hard work at the factory. On the evening of January 7, unlike usual, the group of workers did not rest but instead took the opportunity to prepare and choose beautiful clothes to wear to participate in the boarding house Tet.

Without giving anyone any orders, everyone helped prepare for the New Year's Eve party of the entire dormitory.
Looking at the people who have been staying with her for many years, as close as family, the landlady Nguyen Thi Kim Hong was visibly happy. Ms. Hong said that every year, no matter how difficult or favorable the situation is, she still tries to organize a small party with the families in the area.
A month ago, Ms. Hong proactively surveyed households about their preferences and entertainment needs for the year-end party. After that, the female landlord planned the menu and program for the party, inviting 3 singers to sing for fun.

"I know that the workers in the boarding house really like listening to cải lương, so I specially invited a singer to sing. However, when the day of the event was approaching, there was a little problem so the singer could not come. In order not to disappoint everyone, I asked three friends who are professionals to sing instead," Ms. Hong confided.
It is known that her boarding house has 40 rooms. The female landlord has saved money and given each tenant 100,000 VND as lucky money. She also organized a bingo game and a lucky draw with 6 prizes for the workers.
"This year the economy is difficult, so I hope the small joys I bring can encourage people somewhat," said Ms. Hong.
The female landlord said that 2024 will continue to be a difficult year for both landlords and workers in this area. In fact, recently, many rental rooms in Binh Tan district have been continuously empty even though landlords have not increased prices and are still trying to attract tenants.
Many workers choose to leave, return to their hometowns or move to other provinces to find work.
"Those who choose to stay in the city have to shoulder a lot. Workers generally struggle to survive because of their low salaries, while the cost of living is too high. In fact, the previous wave of layoffs caused many workers to lose their jobs, and now when they go back to work at the new company, everyone has to accept low salaries and no seniority bonuses," Ms. Hong explained.

At this time last year, Ms. Kim Hong remembers, the roads leading to the boarding house were full of vendors selling Tet goods. However, this year, the area is still very gloomy, the workers are no longer excited to celebrate Tet, which makes the female landlord "startled".
"I was surprised because I didn't think that Tet was only a few weeks away, because the atmosphere was so quiet. I feel lucky to still be able to keep my workers. But seeing the common difficulties, many other landlords as well as workers unable to survive, I also feel sad. Hopefully next year, the situation will change for the better," Ms. Hong confided.
