Quang Ninh : Preparations underway to put the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory in Viet Hung Industrial Park into operation.

This is the first factory in Vietnam and Southeast Asia specializing in assembling and manufacturing automobiles under the Škoda Auto brand – the largest automobile brand in the Czech Republic.

After two years of construction, the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory in the Viet Hung Industrial Park (Ha Long City) is now ready for trial runs from the end of this year and will officially begin production in early 2025. The Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory, with a capacity of 120,000 vehicles per year, is built on an area of 36.5 hectares, within the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile and Supporting Industries Complex, which covers a total area of 340 hectares and has a total investment of 8,679 billion VND.

According to information released by the factory, the entire production and assembly line utilizes leading-edge, state-of-the-art technologies from Škoda Auto, meeting European standards with a high degree of automation. Accordingly, the factory's equipment is supplied by leading and experienced partners such as Chropynska, Wipro Pari, and Durr. This ensures that the factory's production and assembly processes fully meet international quality standards, environmental protection standards, and are ready to produce new car models in the future.

In its initial phase of operation, the factory will assemble SUV and B-segment sedan models that suit the current tastes and consumer trends of Vietnamese people. According to the plan, the factory will launch its first two CKD (completely knocked down) models, Kushaq and Slavia, in 2025. In the next phase, the factory will expand into environmentally friendly electric vehicles, adopting new green automotive manufacturing technologies in line with global development trends.

Recognizing the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automotive and Supporting Industries Complex as a key project, a driving force for the province's development in the coming years, contributing to increased local budget revenue and job creation, Quang Ninh province and its departments, agencies, and Ha Long city have given special attention and support to the project's implementation. The selection and placement of the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory in the Viet Hung Industrial Park clearly demonstrates Quang Ninh province's commitment to establishing a new national automobile manufacturing hub, as this area offers convenient access for both domestic and international trade.

During the implementation process, Quang Ninh province directed specialized agencies to continue supporting and resolving difficulties regarding land acquisition for the investor to accelerate the implementation of the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automotive and Supporting Industry Complex. The province also implemented a project to renovate and expand Road 279 to ensure the factory's smooth and safe operation. The leaders of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee also directed relevant departments and localities to continue to cooperate and promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles in the project implementation, thereby enabling the investor to proceed with the next steps such as investing in worker housing, a 110kV power line from the 220kV Hoanh Bo substation to the Viet Hung Industrial Park, and upgrading the capacity of the 110kV Viet Hung Industrial Park substation to 3x63MVA.

It is evident that the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory and the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile and Supporting Industry Complex, once completed and operational, will form a supply chain connecting dozens of manufacturing plants, including those involved in automobile assembly, battery and engine production, supporting industries, ports, and services… ultimately transforming Quang Ninh into one of the country's major automobile manufacturing centers.

At the same time, the factory will contribute to the development of Vietnam's automotive industry; in line with the Government 's orientation in the new phase of developing the automotive industry in line with the global value chain, with division of labor and cooperation for joint production, making the automotive industry an important sector of the country.
