In 2025, trade relations between Vietnam and Germany are expected to continue their positive growth momentum. According to the Vietnam Customs Department, bilateral trade between the two countries reached nearly US$9.95 billion in the first nine months of 2025, a 15.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Vietnam continues to have a trade surplus with Germany of nearly US$4 billion, while imports from Germany mainly consist of machinery, equipment, and pharmaceuticals – high-tech product categories.

Bosch's technology products for mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and home repair have been available in Vietnam for a long time and are very popular with consumers.

Notably, Germany is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner in the European Union (EU) and a leading European investor in high-tech sectors. Along with trade agreements such as the EVFTA, investment flows from Germany are expanding from traditional industries to digital transformation, green energy, and automation.

According to the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK), more than 90% of German businesses operating in Vietnam have indicated they will continue to invest and expand production in the next 12 months, with a focus on manufacturing and smart technology.

In this wave of cooperation, Bosch Group is one of the leading German businesses. Bosch began operating in Vietnam in 1994 and currently employs 6,000 people with a total investment of approximately 500 million euros. The company operates a CVT belt manufacturing plant in Dong Nai and software, research and development (R&D) centers in Ho Chi Minh City, serving the domestic market and the Asia- Pacific region.

Bosch's home appliances were showcased at the Bosch Tech Tour 2025 exhibition.

Bosch's operations reflect a shift in investment direction from manufacturing to knowledge investment, focusing on technology, data, and automation, contributing to bringing German technology into Vietnam's industrial value chain.

At the Bosch Tech Tour 2025 exhibition, Bosch introduced the "The House of Bosch" technology ecosystem with three main solution groups. The smart home group features energy-efficient household appliances such as Zeolith dishwashers with dryers, washer-dryers with integrated artificial intelligence (AI), and the Home Connect system that allows users to control appliances remotely.

This group of vehicles, equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), Easy Turn Assist for cars, and Motorcycle ABS technology for motorcycles, is well-suited to urban traffic conditions in Vietnam.

The industrial production team, with its CtrlX Automation platform, enables flexible connectivity between hardware and software in the factory, along with Kassow 7-axis collaborative robots and digital twin models, thereby optimizing the production process.

Mr. Andre de Jong, General Director of Bosch Vietnam, shared his views on the market potential in Vietnam.

At the exhibition, Mr. Andre de Jong, General Director of Bosch Vietnam, emphasized: “Vietnam is emerging as a dynamic development hub in the region, with a young engineering workforce and a clear digital transformation orientation. Bosch wishes to accompany Vietnam on this journey with our global technology and experience, towards a connected, safe, and sustainable future.”

According to Vijay Ratnaparkhe, President of Bosch Southeast Asia and CEO of Bosch Singapore, Southeast Asia is one of Bosch's most dynamic regions globally, with Vietnam playing a central role in connecting manufacturing, software, and technical services. Therefore, the Group considers Vietnam the center of Southeast Asia, connecting manufacturing, software, and technical services.

In fact, the presence of corporations like Bosch is contributing to technology transfer, the development of highly skilled technical personnel, and promoting Vietnam's deeper participation in the global supply chain. This also demonstrates the direction that both countries are pursuing, using innovation and green technology as drivers of sustainable development.

Mr. Andre de Jong also emphasized that Vietnam is one of Bosch's fastest-growing markets in ASEAN. Accordingly, Bosch is preparing for a new phase of growth in Vietnam, as the demand for green technology, smart mobility, and automated manufacturing is rapidly increasing.
