Digital technology helps reduce poverty in Dak Phoi commune, Dak Lak

DNVN - Bringing digital technology closer to people, especially poor households, is becoming one of the important solutions to help narrow the information gap, support people to proactively access policies and develop their livelihoods.

In the digital age, supporting the poor to access telecommunications services and information technology applications not only helps them grasp information quickly and receive public services equally, but also contributes to improving production skills and improving their lives.

According to Dak Lak newspaper, aware of that, Dak Phoi Commune People's Committee has established 19 community digital technology groups with 152 members. These groups act as a bridge between the government and the people, bringing digital platforms and digital skills to the community; especially supporting poor households to access and use technology to develop production and increase income.

Not only supporting the implementation of administrative procedures and social services, digital technology groups also guide people to use the internet safely to find jobs, learn economic models, and connect to product consumption.

Mr. Y Djao Lieng Hot (Pai Ar village) said that he regularly goes online to update socio-economic information and policies for the elderly and those with meritorious services. “Every day, besides listening to the radio, I also use my smartphone to read newspapers and communicate with my children and grandchildren. From the information I receive, I know what is good to follow and what is bad to stay away from; from there, I advise and remind my children and grandchildren to comply with policies and guidelines,” Mr. Y Djao shared.

In Pai Ar village, Ms. Le Thi Kieu Oanh has been running a grocery store for more than 3 years. Thanks to the support of commune officials and bank employees, she has registered a bank account so that customers can make payments by bank transfer, limiting the use of cash, meeting the modern shopping needs of the people.

Thanks to digital technology, many production models have been upgraded. Mr. Trieu Duc Duy's family (Cao Bang village) has 1.5 hectares of production land. Previously, he only took care of crops based on experience. Recently, with support from the Dak Lak Forestry Science and Technology Association for the Enfarm device - a handheld device connected to a smartphone to measure important indicators in the soil - he proactively learned more features to optimize farming efficiency.

According to Mr. Hoang Thanh Be, Vice Chairman of Dak Phoi Commune People's Committee, the commune is developing a plan to support people in using smartphones to handle administrative procedures and develop production. Expanding access to information and digital applications is opening up many opportunities for people to grasp policies and guidelines, confidently improve their livelihoods and receive public services equally.

Digital technology is truly becoming the "key" to help Dak Phoi people rise up and move closer to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.
