(CLO) The strike at the Boeing factory has entered its sixth week after workers once again rejected a new contract offer last Wednesday.
The voting results showed that 64% of workers did not accept the proposed 35% wage increase over four years.
The union's decision to vote was aimed at pressuring Boeing to offer better terms. Workers felt they had been treated unfairly by the company in previous negotiations, particularly during the financial crisis.
Union leaders have indicated they are ready to negotiate with Boeing. This marks the first time talks have resumed since 2014, when Boeing used the threat of production shutdowns to force workers to forgo their traditional pension schemes.

Following the vote count, leaders of the International Aerospace and Machinery Workers Association declared: "After 10 years, we still have much work to do, and we hope to reopen negotiations soon."
More than 30,000 mechanics stopped working at Boeing factories on the US West Coast starting September 13, leading to a halt in production of wide-body aircraft programs, including the best-selling 737 MAX, 767, and 777 models.
This rejection of the agreement is the second in the formal vote, after 95% of workers rejected the previous proposal last month, leading to a strike.
