When talent "knocks on the door" of the family
Since she was a child, Le Quynh Anh, from Chu Van An Primary School (Gia Vien Ward), often stood in front of the mirror singing and dancing to music. At first, Quynh Anh's parents just considered it a child's game. But when they saw that her child knew many songs and performed quite naturally, Nguyen Thi Hue, Quynh Anh's mother, decided to let her child attend a children's art class. To date, Quynh Anh has won many awards in artistic talent subjects such as: First prize in the "Song Ca" contest of Hai Phong city in the 2024 - 2025 school year; Top 22 national child singers in the Vietnam kid singer contest 2025...
“When we see that our children have talent and passion, we feel that we need to accompany them, be ready to create conditions, support them in studying, practicing skills, participating in artistic activities and encourage them to confidently express their abilities. If we miss the opportunity, we will regret it later,” Ms. Hue shared.

Quynh Anh's story is an example of a family's sensitivity in observing, accompanying, guiding and supporting their children to develop their talents naturally and sustainably.
On the contrary, many cases show that not all parents are able to recognize their children's talents in time. Since childhood, Nguyen Minh Khoi (in An Bien ward) could draw for hours, but his family was busy and thought he drew based on his feelings. It was not until the teacher called to discuss and emphasized his outstanding creativity that his parents really paid attention.
It can be seen that indifference or excessive expectations can limit children's talents. It is important that parents observe and create conditions for their children to try many activities. Through that process, parents can clearly feel what is a lasting talent and what is just a passing interest.
However, many students also share the pressure in the process of nurturing their talents. Nguyen Ngoc Oanh, a student at Quang Trung Secondary School (Ngo Quyen Ward) confided: "I really like drawing, but when I have to study culture and prepare for competitions, sometimes I feel stressed. If my parents did not encourage me, I probably would have given up halfway."
These shares show that, besides early talent discovery, proper parental support, encouragement and creating a suitable environment are even more important, helping children develop sustainable talents without excessive pressure.
Playground - where children express their abilities
Family is where seeds are sown, but talent is only truly revealed when there is an environment to challenge it. In recent years, many art playgrounds for children have been organized, becoming a place for them to express themselves.
The City Children's Cultural Palace regularly organizes singing, dancing, and drawing competitions. For many children, participating in the competition is the first time standing on a big stage. Many parents are surprised to see their children perform more confidently than at home. Mr. Nguyen Vu Hoang, whose child participated in a drawing competition, said: "At home, my child only draws for fun, I never thought he could win a prize. Thanks to these playgrounds, the family has a clearer view of his abilities."

Recently, Nguyen Duy Art Center (Vietnam - Czech Friendship Labor Cultural Palace) successfully organized the Piano Festival 2025 with the theme "Far-flying notes" gathering more than 200 young contestants. Under the stage lights, many children were initially nervous, but from there learned to stay calm and show their full potential. "It is these experiences that forge children's confidence, artistic spirit and perseverance," said pianist Tuan Manh, a member of the jury.
Even at preschool age, creating opportunities for children to access art is increasingly emphasized. In the 2024-2025 school year, Sao Viet Kindergarten staged the musical “A Wandering Trip”, with the participation of hundreds of children throughout the school, leaving a deep impression on the audience. On stage, innocent voices and clumsy movements became the first signs for parents to recognize their children's talent. "What we aim for is confidence and opportunities for children to express their abilities," said Ms. Nguyen Tuyet Nga, Principal of the school.

According to pianist Tuan Manh, community playgrounds are a measure of natural abilities. These playgrounds help parents see their children’s abilities in real-life environments, while also training them in qualities that are difficult to provide in a regular classroom.
From a clumsy drawing, an improvised melody, children's artistic talent sometimes appears by chance. Parents' subtle observation, timely companionship and creating opportunities for experience are the keys to turning small hobbies into a long journey of passion and talent. When the family truly accompanies, children not only develop their talent but also learn confidence, perseverance and creativity - important provisions to shine in the new school year and the future.
