Việt NamViệt Nam28/08/2023

The 15th day of the 7th lunar month (also known as Vu Lan festival) is a holiday for children to repay their parents' kindness and return to their roots of love. According to the long-standing tradition of the Vietnamese people, this festival is usually held on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month every year and is highly regarded by the people.

Customers choose to buy flowers at 7/11 market, Son La city.

As the 15th of July approaches, the fruit and worshiping items market is busier than usual. According to reporters at some markets and shops in the city, the atmosphere of shopping for worshiping items is quite crowded. The purchasing power of fresh food, vegetables, fresh flowers, and offerings on this occasion has increased sharply, but prices are basically stable. Ms. Dang Huyen Trang, group 2, Chieng Le ward, shared: After work, I went to the market to buy some offerings such as areca nuts, betel leaves, fruits, votive paper, chicken, and ham. This year's market has a variety of beautiful goods, the prices are the same as usual, so it is easy to choose and buy. Fresh flowers are a bit more expensive, but the quantity I buy is not much, so the increase is not significant.

Chrysanthemums and roses are the flowers that most people choose to buy for the full moon day. If on normal days the price of flowers is about 5,000-6,000 VND/flower, then during this full moon day, the price of roses and chrysanthemums has increased from 7,000-10,000 VND/flower. Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan, a flower seller at the 7/11 market, shared: The reason for the increase in flower prices is due to high market demand during the full moon day of the 7th lunar month, while the weather in the North this season has a lot of rain, making the quantity of beautiful, quality flowers serving the market less. This year, in addition to roses and chrysanthemums, I also import lotus flowers from the lowlands for sale at 60,000 VND/bunch of 10 flowers; lilies at 30,000 VND/branch, meeting the choice of consumers.

The prices of fruits are quite diverse, bananas range from 20,000-40,000 VND/bunch, longan 10,000-25,000 VND/kg; custard apples range from 40,000-65,000 VND/kg; dragon fruit 25,000-35,000 VND/kg; apples from 90,000-150,000 VND/kg... depending on the type. Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan, owner of Tuan Loan fruit shop, Lau village, said: Anticipating an increase in purchasing power, from the beginning of July we went to the gardens to order a larger quantity of fruit than in previous months with a variety of fruits to serve customers. In the past 5 years, customers have always prioritized and chosen to buy local fruit products such as longan, custard apple, guava, dragon fruit...

Unlike normal days, on this occasion, people bring more live roosters to the market to sell. Ms. Lo Thi Hoan, who sells chickens at market 308, said: Chickens come in many prices, but the most delicious and beautiful is 170,000 VND/kg, and the average is 130-150,000 VND/kg. When buying for the full moon, customers often choose chickens with shiny feathers and big, red combs.

Along with the bustling food market, fresh fruit... votive paper items are also crowded with customers at this time. Stores import many diverse designs to serve customers' choices. Mr. Le Van Do, owner of Que Do votive paper shop, 308 market, said: The prices of votive paper products are stable compared to previous years. Items such as clothes, shoes, hats are priced from 20,000 to 50,000 VND/set. Paper horses are priced from 50,000 VND/horse, paper cars are priced from 80,000 VND/car.

To serve the needs of consumers, in recent years, the service of ordering offerings for the full moon festival has "blossomed" again. From the first days of the 7th lunar month, on Fanpages, Facebook, Zalo of individuals and restaurants, they have posted information about accepting orders for offerings, providing menus for customers to choose and order. People can choose individual dishes or order the entire offering, choose raw ingredients to prepare themselves or choose pre-cooked dishes. It is a trusted address for many customers in choosing to order offerings for ceremonies. Ms. Ngo Khanh An, Quyet Tam ward, has received nearly 50 orders since the beginning of the 7th lunar month until now... Ms. An shared: With prices ranging from 400,000 to 1,000,000 VND, consumers can order a vegetarian tray of 5-7 dishes such as steamed vegetarian chicken, spring rolls, pork roll, fried tofu, braised mushrooms, salads, stir-fried vegetables, five-color sticky rice... In addition, I also accept orders for unique offerings such as peach-shaped dumplings, lotus-shaped sticky rice balls, lotus jelly... to make the full moon offering tray in the 7th lunar month more lively.

It can be seen that the market on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month this year is quite stable, the supply of goods is abundant, there is no shortage or imbalance, the prices are suitable, ready to meet the needs of consumers.
