Da Nang has just changed personnel in two key leadership positions - Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Committee.
Specifically, the Politburo decided to appoint Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City to hold the position of Secretary of the City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
The Secretariat of the Central Committee decided to appoint Mr. Pham Duc An, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, to the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee, to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, and to nominate him for election as Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City for the 2021-2026 term.
Mr. Ấn had resigned from the Provincial Party Committee and Standing Committee, and relinquished his positions as Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term and Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term before being assigned to his new duties.
Yesterday, Mr. An was elected by the City People's Council as Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City for the 2021-2026 term.
Previously, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued a decision to appoint Mr. Nguyen Van Quang - a member of the Central Committee of the Party and Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee - to the position of Permanent Deputy Chief Inspector of the Government Inspectorate.

Looking back over the years, Da Nang has been stable and safe, but lacking breakthroughs. The city that was once mentioned nationwide as a symbol of reform, a dynamic governance model in recent years has been moving slowly.
The "Da Nang brand," once associated with bold ideas and innovative approaches, is gradually fading. Therefore, the challenge for Da Nang is to quickly regain its momentum of development, not just at a steady pace, but with a breakthrough to eliminate the imminent risk of falling behind.
This boost propelled Da Nang into a breakthrough phase.
Against this backdrop, public opinion places even greater expectations on the two key leaders of the city who have just been appointed.
Among them, the new Secretary of the City Party Committee, Luong Nguyen Minh Triet (49 years old), is a son of Quang - Da land, grew up from the Youth Union movement, has experienced many working positions, understands and is deeply attached to this land.
He is considered a young, capable and experienced cadre in Party building and state administration, with a scientific, decisive and close-to-the-grassroots mindset and working methods...
The new Chairman of Da Nang City, Pham Duc An, is a completely new face, also from the 7X generation and is knowledgeable in the field of finance and banking. He has a bachelor's degree in Economic Law, a bachelor's degree in Banking and Finance, a master's degree in Business Administration and has many years of experience in the banking industry.
Upon taking office, he affirmed that he would focus on removing bottlenecks and obstacles, unlocking all resources, promoting economic development, and making Da Nang a new growth hub for the whole country.
With the youth, expertise, and enthusiasm of these two new leaders, the people of Da Nang are anticipating a new impetus. An impetus that will transform the city not only into a "livable place" but also an attractive destination for investors, a center of creativity and innovation, and a place where policies with nationwide impact can be initiated.
This is completely reasonable, as Da Nang was given many special mechanisms by the Central Government for development, was chosen as one of two places to build the country's International Financial Center and was also the first locality to establish a Free Trade Zone.
To achieve that, Da Nang in general and the city's key leaders in particular must be people who dare to think big, dare to do differently and above all, dare to take responsibility to bring Da Nang into a breakthrough phase, reaffirming its position.
Only then will Da Nang be worthy of its role as the locomotive of the Central region, becoming a growth pole of Vietnam and one of the highly competitive cities of the country and the Asia-Pacific region.
