The 1st Congress of Delegates of the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs and War Invalids in Ho Chi Minh City: Continuing the journey of gratitude and affection

After 5 years since its establishment, the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs and War Invalids of Ho Chi Minh City has had many practical activities demonstrating its dedication and responsibility with the political and social system in caring for and showing gratitude to heroic martyrs.

On October 16, the Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs and War Invalids (HHTGLS-TB) of Ho Chi Minh City held its first Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term.

Colonel, journalist Tran The Tuyen, former President of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Lawyers and Lawyers, delivered the opening speech.

Attending the congress were comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; along with officials and members of the Association of Vietnamese Veterans, veterans, war invalids and relatives of martyrs' families.

After 5 years since its establishment, the HCM City Association of Family Planning and Investment has achieved encouraging results.

The Association has provided policy advice and found martyrs' graves for 337 martyrs' relatives, announced information on 466 martyrs' graves, matched information to correctly identify 67 cases and found 745 martyrs' graves in cemeteries.

The Association has collected a list of 48,447 martyrs, compiled it into a book and kept it at the Association's office, contributing to the construction of a martyr information library; supporting DNA identification and coordinating the repatriation of nearly 300 martyrs' remains with a total cost of 289 million VND...

Over the past 5 years, the association has mobilized funding to build and repair 112 charity houses with a total cost of 5.76 billion VND.

The total cost for activities to visit and give gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, families of martyrs, seriously wounded soldiers and award scholarships to children of martyrs on holidays and Tet is more than 1.6 billion VND.

Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City spoke at the congress.

Speaking at the congress, comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc emphasized that in recent times, Ho Chi Minh City has implemented many policies of "Repaying gratitude", in which the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Family and Friends have left many profound impressions, contributing to spreading the spirit of humanity in society.

On behalf of the city's leaders, comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc respectfully acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the results of the association's activities over the past 5 years. The practical work and noble gestures of the veterans and members demonstrate the spirit of dedication, responsibility, and joining hands with the entire political and social system of the city to care for and show gratitude to the heroic martyrs and those who have contributed to the revolution.

These activities have contributed to strengthening people's confidence, strongly arousing patriotism, the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source" - a beautiful feature that has become the identity of Ho Chi Minh City.

Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc also acknowledged and highly appreciated the speech of Lieutenant General Luu Phuoc Luong, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Association of Vietnamese Veterans of Ho Chi Minh City, on improving the quality of the association's activities.

In fact, there are still many martyrs' remains that have not been found, scattered across the old battlefields. Therefore, stepping up the search and verification of martyrs' information is an urgent task that needs to be carried out synchronously and promptly before time and natural conditions fade away the traces.

Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc suggested that the association continue to expand and enhance the influence of gratitude activities; associated with political and ideological education, especially educating the younger generation to deeply understand the value of peace , independence and the sacrifices of their fathers and brothers.

Along with that, strengthen coordination between Military Regions, Commands, Traditional Clubs, Veterans Liaison Committees... to share and verify information, effectively serving the search and collection of martyrs' remains.

The Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Family and Friends, term 2025-2030, was introduced to the congress.

In addition, it is necessary to promote the combined strength of the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and the great national solidarity bloc in the "Repaying gratitude" programs, so that the association's activities can be more synchronous, comprehensive and sustainable.

The Congress voted to approve the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Family and Friends for the 2025-2030 term, consisting of 33 people.

The Standing Committee consists of 15 members. Mr. Le Thai Be, Member of the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Vietnamese Lawyers and Veterans, Deputy Head of the Liaison Committee of Division 5, holds the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Vietnamese Lawyers and Veterans.
