This includes updating teaching methods, using advanced learning aids and enhancing the learning experience of students. Hear from experts on the prospects of education in the digital age.
♦ Dr. Tran Thanh Long , Director of Banking Academy - Phu Yen Branch: The opportunity of education in the context of digital transformation is huge.
Digital transformation (DT) in education is no longer a slogan, it is a comprehensive restructuring of the way we plan, organize and evaluate teaching and learning activities. In general, after the boost from the online learning period during COVID-19, many localities have had a learning management platform (LMS), digitized learning materials and piloted assessment in the digital environment. It can be said that schools in Dak Lak province are currently facing many opportunities with DI. That is, narrowing regional gaps with technology. Digital content, blended classes, MOOCs, micro-credentials help students access new knowledge and international lecturers without geographical barriers. The policy framework has also paved the way for the recognition of digital learning materials, data standards and interconnectivity. Local businesses and the agricultural - service - tourism ecosystem of the Central Highlands have many practical data problems for the school to build experiential courses, living labs and graduation projects associated with local digital transformation.
To keep up with digital transformation, universities need to develop a digital transformation strategy for 3-5 years. This includes clearly defining infrastructure, platforms (LMS, open learning resources, digital libraries); blended learning modules, interconnected micro-credentials; learning data and analytics; security, safety and digital outcomes for students. In addition, schools also need to standardize training data according to the “single source of truth” model: program codes, modules, output standards, evidence, assessment data, jobs, to serve accreditation and data-based decision making. Schools should also invest in digital capacity for lecturers and students according to pedagogical digital capacity standards; design “AI for all industries” modules, practice academic ethics, combat digital fraud and skills to work with AI. Schools must also engage local businesses to co-develop project modules, digital internships and job platforms; Prioritize the problem of agricultural data, logistics, and smart tourism in the Central Highlands; at the same time, ensure equitable access to equipment funds, 4G/5G learning data packages, and digital learning points in dormitories, libraries, wards, and communes.
The opportunities for education in the context of digital transformation are enormous, expanding opportunities for quality learning, personalization, transparency of quality and strong connections with the labor market. But to “transform opportunities into capabilities”, schools in Dak Lak province need a digital transformation strategy with clear, measurable priorities and closely linked to the needs of local development, businesses and learners.
♦ Associate Professor, Dr. Tong Xuan Tam, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education : Promoting the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) in schools
To effectively utilize AI in schools, both schools and teachers play a key role and require coordinated efforts. Schools need to develop a clear vision and strategy: to personalize learning pathways, automate administrative tasks, support students with special needs, or enhance the overall learning experience; school leaders need to develop a systematic AI implementation roadmap from the pilot phase to widespread adoption, including budgeting and resource planning. Along with that, invest in technology infrastructure to ensure a high-speed, stable, and secure internet network; equip necessary devices (computers, tablets, software, AI platforms) in line with the set educational goals.
Once the foundation is in place, organize training and professional development for teachers through workshops and training courses to help teachers understand AI, use AI tools effectively and ethically; create a professional learning community where teachers can share experiences, discuss challenges and solutions when integrating AI into teaching, and develop data policies. Collaborate with parents and the community to introduce and talk about the benefits and considerations when schools apply AI; encourage the participation of the community and technology experts to build an advanced learning environment.
Teachers need to proactively learn and improve their digital skills; creatively integrate AI into their lessons…; and at the same time, guide students with the necessary skills for the digital age. That is, teaching students how to use AI tools effectively and responsibly; training students in critical thinking to know how to evaluate and verify information provided by AI, instead of relying too much on AI; educating about AI ethics, privacy and safety in cyberspace. Teachers need to arouse curiosity, creativity, and develop soft skills such as communication, cooperation, and problem-solving for students - skills that machines can hardly replace…
♦ Master , Math and IT teacher, Tran Suyen High School: Should start from the smallest thing
The National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2030, approved by the Prime Minister, includes education and training as one of the priority areas. Implementing this decision, the Ministry of Education and Training has issued many documents guiding and directing educational institutions to carry out the task of applying information technology and digital transformation. In particular, Tran Suyen High School has always focused on applying information technology in performing its tasks and has initially achieved many positive results.
I think that digital transformation in education is not something lofty but should start from the simplest, smallest things associated with the daily work of teachers such as: preparing electronic lesson plans, sharing and exploiting electronic lectures... At the same time, teachers apply information technology to teaching lessons through collecting and integrating pictures and animations to increase the liveliness and attractiveness of the lessons. Thereby, students are more interested in the lessons, attend school diligently and are motivated to study; the quality of education has changed significantly. This has gradually changed teaching methods from traditional to active, helping teachers and students to promote their thinking ability, creativity, initiative and effectiveness.
Not only does it improve the quality of education, digital transformation also saves time, giving teachers more time for their expertise and closer attention to students. Digital transformation in education is not only the application of technology in teaching but also a revolution in the way we learn, teach and manage education. It opens up unprecedented opportunities to improve the quality of education, personalize learning experiences and access knowledge widely.
