Good harvest, good price, and stable output, these “sweet fruits” are the result of the determination to change of Quyet Tien Cooperative. From the land that used to be a monoculture of rice with unstable income, it has now become a famous vegetable granary in the region.
"Sweet fruit" from specialized land
MSc. To Ngoc Dung, Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, excitedly said: “In the past, farmers in this area only grew rice twice a year, with low productivity and unstable output. However, since switching to a specialized cropping model, including rotating corn and squash, combined with linkage and collective economic development, people’s income has been very high. If cultivated well, farmers can earn a profit of several hundred million VND per year. As a technician, I am very excited to see the effectiveness of this model.”
Quyet Tien Cooperative supplies over 1 ton of squash every day, at a price of about 14,000 VND/kg, bringing a stable source of income to its members.
According to Master Dung, this transformation not only comes from a suitable production model but also from infrastructure investment. The opening of the Quan Lo - Phung Hiep route has paved the way for crops to reach large markets. Along with that, Quyet Tien Cooperative has been trained in farming techniques, organized production in a professional manner, creating momentum for a breakthrough . "When the village road was clear, along with the attention of the local agricultural sector, the Cooperative immediately started to convert and specialize in growing more crops to catch up with the market, while strengthening connections for stable input and output," said Mr. Pham Hiep Phong, Deputy Director of Quyet Tien Cooperative.
Thanks to that, up to now, the Cooperative sells an average of over 1 ton of squash to Binh Dien and Thu Duc markets in Ho Chi Minh City every day. What is more exciting is that squash is currently priced at around 14,000 VND/kg, providing a stable source of income for its members. In addition to squash, the Cooperative also supplies the market with 20,000-30,000 corns every day, priced at 2,500-3,000 VND/corn. This is also a 3-star OCOP product of Quyet Tien Cooperative.
Creating jobs, joining hands with "Quyet Tien"
Quyet Tien Cooperative was established in 2011, currently has 115 members participating with an area of 95 hectares. Of which, 70 hectares are used for two-crop rice production, the rest is for growing other crops. Mr. Pham Hiep Phong shared: “Specializing in other crops has a more stable source of income than rice. However, to achieve long-term effectiveness, Quyet Tien Cooperative’s agricultural products must maintain their quality reputation and always ensure supply to meet the needs of traders, creating a stable source of profit for members”.

In addition to buying and selling together, Quyet Tien Cooperative members also follow a common crop calendar to develop together. The specialized village has an area of 30 hectares, and has now built a dike, suitable for each type of crop, helping members to be proactive in the crop season. From October, the Cooperative focuses on growing watermelon for Tet, then continues with corn and squash depending on the members' choices to suit their family's production conditions. All crop varieties are purchased from reputable companies to ensure quality from the input stage.
Not only bringing profits to member households, Quyet Tien Cooperative also creates regular jobs for 20-30 workers with daily side jobs. On average, workers have an income of about 6 million VND/person/month.
Ms. Cao Thi Dieu, My I Hamlet, Phuoc Long Commune, expressed: “Previously, I worked as a wicker worker, earning an average of 100,000 VND per day. Since switching to work at Quyet Tien Cooperative, my income has increased and become more stable, from 5-6 million VND per month, enough to cover essential family expenses and take care of my children's education.”

“There is a lot of work here. In the morning, we cut squash and arrange them for trucks to transport; in the afternoon, we trim the fruit, and when people spread fertilizer, we cover them with plastic wrap. The work is suitable for women. Seeing that I work steadily, many women in the neighborhood also join us. Quyet Tien Cooperative is truly a place that creates jobs that bring joy to idle workers and provide them with a stable income,” said Ms. Dieu, her face beaming.
Mr. Pham Hiep Phong affirmed: "The joy of the cooperative is to create prestige for the vegetable monoculture model, not only to provide quality agricultural products but also to create stable income for people, contributing positively to the development of the homeland from the diligence and hard work of farmers".
From a land that was only familiar with rice, it has now become a "green address" specializing in effective crop cultivation, contributing to changing the face of the countryside and creating momentum for the development of the collective economy. As the name "Quyet Tien" suggests, this cooperative has been steadily moving forward with farmers, reaping bumper crops day by day.
