On the afternoon of August 8th, a delegation from Hong Dan district ( Bac Lieu province) visited and worked with Gia Vien district (Ninh Binh province).
In line with the policy of strengthening solidarity and supporting the people of the South, in 1960, the two districts of Gia Vien and Gia Rai (now Hong Dan district) held a ceremony to establish a fraternal relationship. Over 64 years of close ties, generations of leaders and people of the two districts have engaged in numerous activities to build solidarity and strengthen their relationship, such as organizing visits, offering encouragement, sharing best practices and good deeds… In particular, the close bond between the two districts is also demonstrated through projects such as the bridge named Gia Vien in Hong Dan district and the road named Hong Dan in Gia Vien district.
During the meeting, Gia Vien district and Hong Dan district shared experiences in Party building, the political system, and socio-economic development, as well as the future direction and tasks of the two localities.
Accordingly, over the years, Gia Vien district has consistently strived to overcome difficulties, focusing on leadership and guidance to achieve significant results. From a purely agricultural district, prone to natural disasters and floods, and among the poorest districts, Gia Vien has risen to become a developed district of the province. The district's economic growth rate has been high and sustainable for many years (averaging over 25% per year), with an economic scale exceeding 40,000 billion VND. The district's economic structure has shifted towards increasing the proportion of industrial, construction, and trade-service sectors.
The district has become the industrial center of the province with the Gian Khau Industrial Park and three operational industrial clusters, attracting numerous investment projects and contributing to the socio-economic development of the district. Trade, services, and tourism have developed comprehensively. Transportation infrastructure has received significant and synchronized investment; many projects serving the people's lives have been constructed, contributing to an increasingly civilized and modern rural landscape.
In Hong Dan district, the economy has continuously developed over the years with an average annual growth rate of over 10%, and per capita income has reached over 69 million VND/person/year. The economic structure has shifted in the right direction, gradually increasing the proportion of industry, trade, and services. The task of building new rural areas has been decisively directed by the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee and has achieved high results. Currently, the district is focusing its resources on striving to achieve the new rural area standard by 2025.
During the meeting, the two districts agreed to continue to closely coordinate in organizing patriotic emulation movements in accordance with the actual conditions of each locality, regularly engaging in cultural exchanges, learning, and sharing experiences, strengthening understanding, fostering friendship, and fostering solidarity.
On this occasion, Gia Vien district and Hong Dan district jointly presented meaningful gifts to commemorate the solidarity and friendship between the two localities.
