Before leaving for the Regional Sports Festival in Thailand, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation organized a donation ceremony to support people in provinces that suffered heavy losses due to storms and floods, demonstrating the spirit of "mutual love" and sharing difficulties with people in disaster areas. At the reception, which took place in a solemn and warm atmosphere, spreading a profound humanitarian message, the representative of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front acknowledged the gesture of the country's Sports Industry.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Department, shared that recently, responding to the call of industry leaders and organizations such as the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), the Vietnam Sports Department has launched many fundraising activities to support the people of the Central region and localities affected by storms and floods.

"The Vietnam Sports Administration has called on officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers in the entire industry to join hands in support, with some contributing a day's salary; and at the same time, organizing sports exchange activities to raise funds, in order to contribute to sharing the losses and damages of the people," said Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh.

In particular, right before the Vietnamese Sports Delegation entered the 33rd SEA Games campaign, the spirit of charity was strongly spread among each member.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh also informed that athletes, coaches, experts and Union officials voluntarily contributed a total of 116.5 million VND to send to people in disaster-stricken areas.

"This is the sincere sentiment of the Vietnam Sports Delegation. We hope that the amount of money, although not large, will contribute more resources to help people soon overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives," said Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh.

The 33rd SEA Games is an important event for Vietnamese Sports. The Vietnamese Sports Delegation participated with a strong force of 1,165 members, including 842 athletes, 189 coaches and 19 experts; competing in 47 out of 66 sports of the Games, corresponding to 443/573 events. The delegation set a goal of winning from 90 to 110 gold medals, continuing to maintain its position in the leading group of Southeast Asia.

The campaign to raise funds and support compatriots before the military deployment further highlights the image of a sports team that is not only determined for achievements but also has a strong sense of responsibility towards the community.

Receiving the donation, Mr. Cao Xuan Thao, Head of the Social Work Department, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front expressed his respect for the gesture of the Sports Industry and the Vietnam Sports Delegation.

Mr. Cao Xuan Thao affirmed: "All contributions from the Committees, Ministries, Branches and People nationwide will be transferred to the people of the affected provinces as soon as possible, to the right subjects and for the right purposes. Each cadre of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has, is and will promote the highest sense of responsibility towards the People. We are committed to timely allocation so that people have more resources to rebuild their lives and soon overcome the consequences of floods."
