Forecast for heavy thunderstorms in Ho Chi Minh City during the September 2nd holiday

TPO - The Meteorological Agency forecasts that during the National Day holiday on September 2, Ho Chi Minh City will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in many places, with some places experiencing moderate to heavy rain; rain will mainly occur from noon to late afternoon, with light sunshine in the morning and little rain at night.

On August 27, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station provided weather forecast information for Ho Chi Minh City during the 2024 National Day holidays (from August 31 to September 4, 2024).

Accordingly, in general, the low pressure trough established at about 14-16 degrees north latitude, passing through the South Central region is weakly active. The southwest monsoon, which dominates the weather in the Ho Chi Minh City and Southern regions, is weak to moderate in intensity. Above, the subtropical high pressure axis passing through the North is not strong and tends to lift its axis to the north.

During the National Day holidays this year, due to the influence of the weather conditions that can cause thunderstorms mentioned above, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station forecasts that Ho Chi Minh City will have scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms, with some places having moderate to heavy rain. Rain mainly occurs from noon to late afternoon, with light sunshine in the morning and little rain at night.

The lowest temperature is commonly from 24-26 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature is from 30-33 degrees Celsius.

“At the coastal tourist destinations of the Southern region, there will be showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, with light winds and waves, making it favorable for sea tourism. Particularly in the coastal area of Ho Chi Minh City, the southwest wind will generally be around level 4, level 5, gusting above level 5,” the Southern Hydrometeorological Station forecast.
