Searches from American tourists for Da Nang surged by 1,538% year-on-year in 2024, recording the most impressive growth among top destinations.
Agoda's data shows that search trends for Da Nang have ranked among the top 5 most searched cities by North American travelers since July 2024 and have maintained this position continuously ever since. Not only Da Nang, but Vietnam in general is becoming one of the most searched destinations by American tourists.
According to this data, Vietnam has risen to the number one position on the list of most popular destinations for American travelers in 2024, up from fourth place in 2023 and surpassing even Japan. The number of searches for accommodation from the US to Vietnam in 2024 increased by 174% compared to the previous year.
Commenting on this search trend, travel businesses believe that the effect of trips by celebrities and wealthy international travelers greatly impacts the image of the destination.
According to experts, billionaire Bill Gates' trip to Da Nang in March 2024 had a positive effect on the local tourism industry. He and his girlfriend stayed at a 5-star resort on Son Tra Peninsula and visited famous landmarks such as Ban Co Peak and Hoi An Ancient Town.
His trip confirms Da Nang's ability to meet the demand for high-end resort experiences, thereby attracting more events and tourists in the high-quality segment.
These factors may have contributed to the increased interest and search for Da Nang by American tourists in recent times.
Vietnam currently aims to welcome 1.3 million American tourists by 2028 and place the US among the top three source markets for tourists to Vietnam.
