Foreign tourists to Khanh Hoa increase in summer

Since the end of May 2024, the number of international tourists visiting Nha Trang ( Khanh Hoa ) has increased sharply. Besides the Central Asian, South Korean, and Chinese markets, a significant number of European tourists have also come to Nha Trang.

According to data from the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism , in May 2024, the province welcomed 830,000 overnight visitors, an 80% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Of these, international visitors were estimated at 400,000, a 170% increase compared to the same period.

In the first five months of 2024, the province welcomed over 3.8 million overnight visitors, a 140% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Of these, international visitors were estimated at 2 million, a 290% increase year-on-year. South Korea and China were the two largest international tourist markets for Khanh Hoa, followed by Kazakhstan, Thailand, Malaysia, etc. Total revenue from tourism was estimated at nearly 20,000 billion VND, a 150% increase year-on-year.

According to Cam Ranh International Airport Joint Stock Company, there are currently 38 international flights daily from 21 airlines to and from Cam Ranh International Airport. The majority of flights originate from China, followed by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and others.

It is expected that from the end of June, airlines will increase flights from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to Cam Ranh to meet the travel demand of tourists.

Mr. Vo Quang Hoang, chairman of the Khanh Hoa Hotel Association, said that the number of bookings during the summer at resorts and hotels is consistently high among Chinese and Korean tourists. Typically, international tourists travel in groups, so travel companies book rooms 1-2 weeks in advance, while others book through websites and booking apps.

"Regarding accommodation and resort services, Khanh Hoa has all segments to meet the needs of international tourists, along with accompanying amenities such as spas, shopping, and dining options," Mr. Hoang said.

Recently, according to an announcement by the digital travel platform Agoda, Nha Trang, along with Ho Chi Minh City and Hoi An, are the three most searched-for destinations in Vietnam by European tourists (from France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Spain, etc.) in recent times.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, the increasing number of international tourists visiting Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa is not only due to its natural beauty, historical sites and relics, but also to the improved quality of services, infrastructure, and diverse range of attractive tourism products. "Currently, the tourism industry is preparing for the Nha Trang Sea Tourism Festival and the Nha Trang International Bay of Lights Festival in 2024 to promote and attract tourists to Khanh Hoa," Ms. Thanh said.
