Vietnam Railways Joint Stock Company has notified passengers via direct SMS messages. If passengers no longer need to travel, they can return their tickets free of charge at railway stations within 30 days.
In response to Typhoon No. 12, Vietnam Railways Corporation and its affiliated railway companies and railway information and signaling companies are strictly implementing the directive from the Vietnam Railway Authority.
Accordingly, when natural disasters occur, units are directed to adjust their operating and train schedules to reduce the number of trains running through or stopping in areas affected by the disaster; develop plans for preserving goods, transporting reserve supplies, transferring passengers, and preparing sufficient food, water, medicine, and medical supplies in case trains have to be stopped due to floods.
Simultaneously, agencies, units, and localities organized inspections of structures and critical locations at risk of safety hazards due to rain and floods, and reinforced them to ensure safe train operation; strictly implemented patrol and guard duties at critical structures and key areas such as bridges, tunnels, weak sections of track prone to flooding, railway signaling and communication facilities, ensuring smooth communication for safe train operation; areas prone to flash floods, steep mountain passes, rockfalls, landslides, railway sections downstream of dikes, dams, and reservoirs...
Agencies, units and localities must proactively concentrate materials, equipment and human resources to be ready to overcome the consequences of rain and floods and ensure smooth traffic. They must ensure the safety of people, construction equipment and construction items when affected by rain and floods when incidents occur; special attention must be paid to constructions in mountainous areas that are prone to sudden floods.
Currently, agencies, units, and localities are also urgently working to overcome the consequences of typhoons No. 10 and No. 11 on national railway lines.
