Duong Hoang Yen admits her mistake, happy to have removed the barrier with My Linh after 11 years

Duong Hoang Yen recently shared some thoughts addressed to diva My Linh - her "mentor". Before the 2024 "Beautiful Woman Riding the Wind " competition, the singer never thought that the two would have the opportunity to reunite after 11 years since The Voice Vietnam 2013.

The singer admitted that she was initially quite shy about coming to the show because of the previous barriers between the two of them. She took responsibility for her immaturity and not fully understanding what My Linh was saying at the time.

Over the past 11 years, they've had a few opportunities to meet, but only managed to exchange greetings and never had the chance to ask each other much.

"Meeting you again on this journey feels like a divine arrangement, reconnecting our teacher-student bond. I'm so happy because finally, after a long time, all the hesitations and shyness have been completely dispelled," Duong Hoang Yen confided.

In the third performance of "Beautiful Sister Riding the Wind 2024 ," Duong Hoang Yen had a song performance with My Linh, Toc Tien, and Ai Phuong. The female singer was delighted and happy to sing with her "mentors" for the first time.

"I'm not a very good speaker, but from the bottom of my heart, I'm truly grateful to you. You've given me so many opportunities to shine."

"I am grateful to life for giving me this rare and precious opportunity to write a beautiful love song with you, Tien, and Phuong in this 'Beautiful Sister Riding the Wind 2024' journey. I wish you always good health, happiness, and peace! I love you so much!", the female singer wrote.

Previously, Duong Hoang Yen and My Linh had the opportunity to work together in The Voice 2013. At that time, the short-haired diva decisively eliminated the young singer before the semi-finals, saying: "Hoang Yen shone in every live show. Another one or two nights and the difference wouldn't be much, but for Thai Quang, it's a new door. Thai Quang started from a low point but is now on par with the others. That's a huge effort..."

My Linh's decision shocked Duong Hoang Yen and surprised the audience. However, the singer born in 1991 still shared: "Everyone has their own strategy. I don't blame My Linh for anything. I thanked her right after the end of the 6th live show. Even though I was eliminated, for the past 6 months, Linh has always been by my side and taught me many good things."

I think stopping here is a beautiful ending for me. The audience loves me. There were people who waited for me until almost 1 am when I was leaving. They ran to hug me and cried with me. Honestly, I'm very touched by the love everyone has shown me."

After 11 years, when they reunited at the 2024 "Beautiful Sisters Riding the Wind" event, My Linh once again surprised everyone by proactively expressing her desire for another opportunity to work with Duong Hoang Yen. She also sent an apology to her student: "If there was anything I did that Yen misunderstood, I apologize to Yen. I've thought about that time a lot! I'm still thinking about it even after several years. I don't know if I did anything wrong to Yen or not?"

Responding to this apology, Duong Hoang Yen was moved: “As I grew older, I realized that everything happens for a reason. But clearly, looking back now, I've improved a lot. I'm still pursuing my career, I'm still passionate, I'm still enthusiastic, and you're still the one who has inspired me so much from that time until now, allowing me to continue my singing career.”

Duong Hoang Yen felt happy that past anxieties and concerns had been resolved, and the two of them were now conquering a new journey together. My Linh was also delighted that after 11 years, the two of them still trusted each other to compete in the 2024 "Beautiful Sister Riding the Wind" competition.

The performance was titled "I No Longer Write Love Songs".
