Speaking at the concluding conference, Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized: The Exchange Program is a special event of great significance, taking place immediately after the State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, in the context of the two countries celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year 2025.
This is an opportunity to strengthen friendship and solidarity, promote substantive cooperation between border guards, local authorities, and people in the border areas of Vietnam and China, and open up many new opportunities for both sides to cooperate and develop. The activity also contributes to affirming the determination of both sides to jointly cultivate traditional friendship and further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China.
The 9th exchange program featured many new aspects, expanding in scale and format with a variety of activities. For the first time at the exchange, the Ministers of Defense of both countries witnessed a live online report from their naval fleets on preparations for a joint patrol and issued orders to depart for the patrol. The two Ministers also participated in many joint activities organized within the framework of the program, such as visiting border management and protection units of both sides, visiting schools and presenting gifts to teachers and students, touring the smart border gate model at Huu Nghi Quan Border Gate, the Viettel Lang Son Logistics Center, and planting friendship trees…
Highly appreciating the proactive spirit and close coordination among relevant agencies and units, Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien commended the efforts in preparing and organizing the event. He also affirmed that the success of the exchange is clear evidence of the realization of high-level common understandings reached between the two countries.
Regarding future directions, Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested continuing to maintain and promote border defense exchanges with China as well as with other neighboring countries. At the same time, he proposed researching and innovating the content and methods of organization to make these exchanges more diverse, practical, and effective.
