Hanoi announces sample exam questions for 10th grade entrance exam in 2025-2026 school year

The representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that the exam format structure is an important basis for building a question bank and creating exam questions for the Hanoi City 10th grade entrance exam according to the 2018 GeneralEducation Program.

Based on the exam format structure of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training recommends that education and training departments strengthen the construction of question banks and test matrices according to the requirements of the subject; encourage schools to build digital libraries of test questions.

Schools need to apply appropriate test format structures for each subject, paying attention to objective test formats so that grade 9 students can get used to them. At the same time, increase test formats including: Multiple choice tests with 4 options to choose 1 correct answer; true/false tests (each question has 4 options, at each option choose true or false); short answer tests.

In order to overcome the situation where students only memorize lessons or copy available documents, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training noted that for the subject of literature, it is necessary to avoid using texts and excerpts that have been learned in textbooks as test materials, assessing reading comprehension and writing skills in periodic tests.

Of the 7 subjects for the 10th grade entrance exam according to the 2018 General Education Program, two subjects, Math and Literature, are tested in essay format. The other subjects, Foreign Languages, Natural Sciences , History and Geography, Civic Education, and Information Technology, are tested in multiple-choice format.
