In case of serious air pollution (VN-AQI ≥ 301), units and schools proactively suspend or adjust working and studying hours accordingly.

This is the proposal of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training stated in Document No. 5095/SGDĐT-CTTTHSSV dated December 3, 2025 sent to the People's Committees of wards and communes; affiliated units and schools on strengthening urgent measures to control air pollution in the city.

Accordingly, in order to ensure the health of students, staff, teachers and employees of units and schools, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requests the People's Committees of wards, communes, units and schools to strictly implement the directive of the City People's Committee on strengthening urgent measures to control air pollution in the area. The Department requests units and schools to proactively adjust their study schedules and outdoor activities accordingly.

Units and schools need to regularly update information on air quality and monitor the VN-AQI index at monitoring stations in the city at the website: http://moitruongthudo.vn.

Regarding the above direction of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Ms. Pham Thi Thu Ha, Principal of Nam Phuong Tien B Secondary School (Xuan Mai Commune) said that in the commune area, there are many construction, traffic and other industrial activities that have seriously affected the air here. Therefore, with the timely direction of the city and the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the school will continue to remind students and parents to pay more attention to health care and prevention measures. In addition, the school will closely follow the direction in the document to proactively have solutions to respond and protect students' health.

Knowing this information, Mr. Pham Hai Luong, a parent of a student in class 8A11, Nghia Tan Secondary School (Nghia Do Ward, Hanoi) said that he strongly supports the city and the Department's direction for schools to be proactive and flexible in deciding on teaching methods suitable to actual environmental conditions. He hopes the school will notify parents early so that they can proactively arrange their work and at the same time have a reasonable solution for make-up lessons so as not to affect the curriculum.
