Hai Duong province will administer 60,500 doses of vaccine to prevent African swine fever in all localities. This number of vaccine doses was compiled by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development based on registrations from local areas.
Of these, Binh Giang district received the most, approximately 9,000 doses, while Thanh Mien district received the least, around 2,700 doses. In addition, localities are continuing to review and compile specific and accurate statistics on the total pig population, including the number of fattening pigs; and the vaccination needs for fattening pigs in order to implement centralized procurement and organize synchronized vaccination at the same time.
District-level authorities allocate funds for purchasing African swine fever vaccines, covering vaccination costs, and implementing centralized and coordinated vaccination for fattening pigs in high-risk areas, household farms, and small-scale farm operations.
Organizations and individuals engaged in farm animal husbandry (medium and large scale) should proactively prevent and control African swine fever and vaccinate their pig herds according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development . Vaccination will be implemented simultaneously after localities have purchased the African swine fever vaccine.
The province allocated funds for training on techniques for vaccinating against African swine fever, disease prevention and control measures; and for purchasing supplies and chemicals.
Currently, Hai Duong province has administered nearly 2,000 doses of African swine fever vaccine to assess its safety. The results show that all test samples indicate immunity, and the vaccinated pigs are developing normally.
