On the morning of January 15th, at a conference to implement the plan for livestock and aquaculture production and animal disease prevention in 2025, the leaders of the Hai Duong Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine announced that by the end of 2024, 7 out of 12 districts, towns, and cities in the province had administered over 22,000 doses of African swine fever vaccine to their pig herds.
Kim Thanh district leads the entire province with 5,470 doses of swine cholera vaccine administered to its fattening pig herd, followed by Binh Giang district with 5,000 doses, Hai Duong city with 3,920 doses, Thanh Ha district with 3,010 doses, and so on.
Last year, African swine fever outbreaks occurred and spread rapidly in 279 districts across 48 provinces and cities nationwide, resulting in the culling of 89,041 infected pigs.
Besides African swine fever, many other diseases affecting livestock have also caused significant losses in numerous provinces and cities, such as avian influenza and foot-and-mouth disease.
In Hai Duong, disease prevention and control in livestock is given high priority with many solutions, so diseases are well controlled. The rate of livestock vaccinated against diseases in both the spring and autumn seasons reached 85% or higher, contributing to the protection of the livestock population.

In 2024, despite being affected by Typhoon Yagi , the number of livestock and poultry in Hai Duong (buffaloes, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, etc.) still grew by 0.8-5.8% compared to 2023, and meat production increased by 1.1-7.4%.
However, the risk of outbreaks of diseases in livestock remains high. African swine fever, in particular, is still circulating in 14 provinces and cities. Meanwhile, in Hai Duong province, there are still 5 districts and cities that have not vaccinated their pigs against this disease.
By 2025, Hai Duong aims for a 3% or greater increase in livestock production value compared to 2024; and for livestock production to account for 30% of the total agricultural production value...
The leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong province requested that localities in the province implement comprehensive and effective solutions for preventing and controlling animal diseases right from the beginning of the year. Localities that have not yet vaccinated against African swine fever need to urgently overcome difficulties to implement the vaccination program.
Before March 20th, districts, towns, and cities must submit registrations of the number of vaccines needed for the 2025 spring crop to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. From March 25th to April 15th, the entire province will begin vaccinating pigs against diseases...
