She is the only Vietnamese beauty queen who has ever met Mr. Donald Trump in New York City, USA in 2007, to campaign for bringing the Miss Universe pageant to Vietnam in 2008; Mr. Donald Trump's two victories both moved the First Mrs. World , Dr. Doan Thi Kim Hong.

She shared: Before entering politics , Mr. Donald Trump was the head of the Miss Universe organization. In 1996, Mr. Donald Trump bought the contest from a swimsuit company in the US and then the contest became successful and famous, attracting a record number of followers around the world.

To campaign to bring this contest to Vietnam, First Mrs. World, Dr. Doan Thi Kim Hong, had a meeting with Mr. Donald Trump.

At that time, it was extremely difficult to organize this contest in Vietnam because there were many countries in the world wishing to host this contest; but during the exchange and negotiation process, with his love for Vietnam and admiration for Miss Kim Hong, Mr. Donald Trump and his associates created favorable conditions for Miss Kim Hong to bring this contest to Vietnam. The contest was then successfully held in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province. Through this contest, the image of the country, culture, history and people of Vietnam was widely promoted around the world through NBC.

Miss Kim Hong recalled: In 2007, with the desire to bring this world-famous beauty pageant to Vietnam, she went to the US to negotiate with Mr. Donald Trump. During a week in the US, Miss Kim Hong met and worked with Mr. Donald Trump many times and was very impressed with his polite and courteous style.

"One morning, Mr. Donald Trump invited me to his office. Always wanting to affirm the traditional cultural values of the nation, as well as the beauty of Vietnamese women, I chose a light pink ao dai. When he met me, Mr. Donald Trump seemed very interested and he praised my ao dai as very beautiful. Mr. Donald Trump also said that he had learned about Vietnam and was impressed by the friendliness and hospitality of the Vietnamese people," said Miss Kim Hong.

That meeting in New York City, USA lasted longer than expected and nearly 20 years have passed, but Miss Kim Hong still carefully preserves the gift that Mr. Donald Trump gave her.

The meeting and working session that day lasted about 3 hours. When hearing Miss Kim Hong's wish to bring the Miss Universe pageant to Vietnam, Mr. Donald Trump was very happy and enthusiastically guided Miss Kim Hong to work with his colleagues.

At the meeting, Miss Kim Hong gave Mr. Donald Trump a beautiful Vietnamese landscape painting and an XQ goldfish embroidery painting. Mr. Donald Trump gave Miss Kim Hong his book with a personal message on the first page.

Until now, Miss Kim Hong still keeps the book with her, considering it as a souvenir of the head of the Miss Universe organization. She and her son - Lien Doan Quoc Khanh, have read this book many times and have learned a lot from the book's experiences.

According to Miss Kim Hong, upon hearing the news that Donald Trump had been elected President of the United States, she was very excited and hoped to meet President Donald Trump again. "As a Vietnamese citizen, I hope that the Vietnam-US friendship will continue to grow and develop," Miss Kim Hong confided.
