This is a project selected by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) as part of EVN's list of urgent key projects to be completed and energized in 2025 and launched by EVNNPT and EVNNPT Trade Union to strive to complete as soon as possible.
The project is invested by EVNNPT, the Central Power Project Management Board represents the investor in managing and operating the project; Power Transmission Company 1 takes over operation after completion.
The 220 kV Vung Ang transformer station is built in Trai hamlet, Vung Ang ward, Ha Tinh province. The station's scale until 2030 includes 2 transformers with a capacity of 2x250 MVA, in this phase, a transformer with a capacity of 125 MVA will be installed. The station is designed with 3 voltage levels of 220 kV, 110 kV, 22 kV.
The connecting line is 2x13.4 km long. The connecting line passes through Vung Ang ward and Song Tri ward, Ha Tinh province.
In the past time, the project construction encountered many difficulties and obstacles in compensation and site clearance, especially the section passing through Tay Yen residential group, Vung Ang ward. Under the close and decisive leadership of EVNNPT, the efforts of CPMB, together with the support of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, Ha Tinh provincial police and the People's Committees of Song Tri ward, Vung Ang ward, and the timely encouragement of trade unions at all levels, the 220 kV Vung Ang transformer station was energized on September 21, 2025.
However, to maximize the effectiveness of this project, it is necessary to complete the 220 kV connecting line soon. The implementation of the connecting line construction process encountered many challenges in compensation and site clearance, when some households deliberately opposed and prevented the construction unit from pulling the wire at anchorage 06-08 with a length of about 600 m.
With the close direction of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, the participation of departments, branches, Ha Tinh Provincial Police and the support of local authorities, security forces were mobilized to carry out the work of pulling the 06-08 anchor wire, thereby bringing the project to the finish line, meeting the set schedule.
The mobilization of security forces by Ha Tinh province to protect construction shows the province's determination in implementing key projects in the area.
The 220 kV Vung Ang Transformer Station Project and its connections, once completed, will be of great significance in ensuring power supply for many important loads in Ha Tinh province, especially the Vung Ang Economic Zone, which has many important industrial parks and factories in the locality.
The project also frees up capacity for the Vung Ang Thermal Power Plant, while contributing to reducing power loss, ensuring safe operation of the power system, improving the reliability and quality of power supply, serving the socio-economic and political development in Ha Tinh province.
Completing the entire project at this time is the most practical action of EVNNPT and CPMB staff to welcome the 11th National Emulation Congress of Workers and Civil Servants in 2025 organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, which is taking place in Hanoi.
