According to information from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training on August 26th, the Hanoi People's Committee issued the framework for the 2025-2026 school year for preschool education, general education, and continuing education in Hanoi.
Accordingly, the entire city will hold its opening ceremony on September 5, 2025. Students in preschools, primary and secondary schools, and continuing education programs should start school at least one week before the opening ceremony.
Specifically, students in grades 1, 9, and 12 will start school two weeks earlier than the official opening day.
According to the Hanoi City's 2025-2026 school year timetable, schools must complete the first semester before January 18, 2026; finish the curriculum and end the school year before May 31, 2026; certify completion of the primary school program and certify graduation from lower secondary school before June 30, 2026; and complete enrollment for the first-year classes before July 31, 2026.
The Hanoi city's academic year timetable also clearly states that the 2026 high school graduation exam is expected to take place on June 26th and 27th.
Other national-level examinations are organized according to the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training .
The Director of the Department of Education and Training is responsible for directing all levels and branches of education to strictly implement the framework of the 2025-2026 school year schedule issued by the City People's Committee.
