Hoi An Ancient Town ( Quang Nam , Vietnam) has been honored to top the list of the safest solo travel destinations in the world, compiled by the American website Smoky Mountains.

Hoi An tops the list of the world's safest destinations for solo travel.

The above list from Smoky Mountains was compiled by listing the most popular solo travel destinations mentioned on the internet, then ranking them based on average cost, crime rate, and reviews from travelers who have experienced solo travel.

According to Smoky Mountains, for solo travelers, a sense of safety can make or break a memorable experience in the region they choose to visit.

"You don't need to worry about being pickpocketed, assaulted, kidnapped, or harmed during your trip. Fortunately, there are several places with preventative measures in place to ensure your safety throughout your visit. Hoi An is one such destination with one of the lowest crime rates," emphasizes Brittany Mendez, a writer for Smoky Mountains.

Furthermore, Hoi An is also one of the cheapest tourist destinations in Asia, with the average cost per tourist being under $800 per month.

The trend of solo vacations is predicted to boom this year. According to Google data, searches for the phrase "solo travel" have increased by 761% recently.

This is evidenced by the fact that many travel companies are now reporting a surge in bookings from solo travelers. Solo travel is being initiated by groups of older, married women who want to get out and explore the world and do so without their spouses.

Other destinations on the list include Kyoto (Japan), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Madeira (Portugal), Queenstown (New Zealand), Naples (Florida), Reykjavik (Iceland), Santa Barbara (California), Prague (Czech Republic), and Munich (Germany).
