The Smoky Mountains list above was compiled by taking the most popular solo travel destinations mentioned on the internet, then ranking them based on average cost, crime rate, and reviews from travelers who have experienced solo travel.

According to Smoky Mountains, for solo travelers, a sense of safety can make or break a traveler's memorable experience with the land they choose to visit.

“You don’t have to worry about being pickpocketed, assaulted, kidnapped, or harmed during your trip. Luckily, there are some places that take precautions to make you feel safe during your visit. Hoi An is one such destination with one of the lowest crime rates,” notes Smoky Mountains writer Brittany Mendez.

In addition, Hoi An is also one of the cheapest tourist destinations in Asia with an average cost per tourist of less than 800 USD/month.
