Online conference on the implementation of the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030

On July 9th, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired a nationwide in-person and online meeting to supplement and update the Plan for implementing the National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 (referred to as Power Plan VIII).

Attending and presiding at the Ninh Binh location was Comrade Nguyen Cao Son, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

According to a report by the Ministry of Industry and Trade , on April 1, 2024, the Prime Minister approved the Plan for implementing the Power Development Plan VIII. According to Power Development Plan VIII, the capacity of concentrated solar power sources is projected to increase by 1,500 MW by 2030.

For Ninh Binh province, the power generation capacity allocated according to the implementation plan of the Power Development Plan VIII includes: 15MW of waste-to-energy capacity cumulatively until 2030, and 23MW of rooftop solar power capacity increase by 2030; 15 transmission grid projects under the Power Development Plan VIII are being actively implemented to ensure progress.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing several issues as directed by the Deputy Prime Minister: not considering supplementing or updating the Implementation Plan for Power Development Plan VIII for projects currently under inspection or investigation; researching and reviewing concentrated solar power capacity sources in Power Development Plan VIII, and developing appropriate and feasible solutions to ensure that development requirements are met when the Decree stipulating the mechanism for direct electricity trading between renewable energy power generation units and large electricity consumers is issued, in accordance with the actual situation and safe operation conditions of the national power system…

Representatives from ministries, sectors, and localities focused on exchanging and discussing solutions to overcome difficulties and obstacles related to solar and wind power projects... as mentioned in Inspection Conclusion No. 1027 of the Government Inspectorate; thereby proposing solutions and recommendations so that localities and investors can soon implement the projects to ensure the development of power sources in accordance with the power source structure approved by the Prime Minister.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested localities to adjust their planning to conform with the Power Development Plan VIII; at the same time, he requested relevant ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to take the lead and coordinate with other units to continue reviewing solar power projects that have been approved in the planning; and to adjust Power Development Plan VIII to identify projects that meet the conditions for implementation, ensuring the approved solar power source structure. He assigned the Government Inspectorate to take the lead and coordinate with relevant units to expedite the resolution of difficulties and obstacles related to solar and wind power projects.
