According to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , at the invitation of General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping will pay a State visit to Vietnam from April 14 to 15.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son assessed that this visit is an important foreign political event of the two Parties and two countries.
According to Mr. Son, the visit has strategic significance and will have a long-term impact on the development of Vietnam-China relations in the context that both countries are entering a new era, a new era of development.

This is Mr. Xi Jinping's fourth visit to Vietnam as the highest leader of the Party and State of China; the second visit during the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
During the visit, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping is expected to have high-level talks with General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong.
General Secretary and President Xi Jinping also had meetings with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to discuss major measures, directions, and orientations to promote bilateral relations in various fields.
In addition, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping will also participate in a number of other important foreign affairs activities.
The leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam are looking forward to and hope that the visit will achieve good results in all aspects.

During the visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, it is expected that ministries, agencies and localities of the two countries will sign about 40 cooperation documents in a wide range of fields, creating an important foundation for more effective cooperation in the coming time.
Since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership framework in 2008, especially after historic visits, Vietnam-China bilateral relations have developed strongly, comprehensively and remarkably.
Key leaders of the two Parties and two countries affirmed that developing bilateral relations is a top priority and a strategic choice in the foreign policy and neighborly diplomacy of Vietnam and China.
In 2024, Vietnam-China economic and trade cooperation will continue to reach a new peak, exceeding 200 billion USD according to Vietnamese statistics and 260 billion USD according to Chinese data.
Vietnam maintains its position as the largest trading partner in ASEAN and China's fourth largest trading partner by country criteria (after the US, Japan, and South Korea).
In the first 3 months of 2025, Vietnam - China bilateral trade turnover reached 51.25 billion USD (up 17.46% over the same period).
In 2024, China ranked first in the number of newly licensed projects with 955 projects, ranking 3rd out of 110 investment partners in Vietnam in terms of capital with 4.73 billion USD (an increase of more than 3.05%).
