On the afternoon of July 10, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Journalists Association , Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, had a meeting with Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee, President of the National Press Council of Thailand, senior advisor to the Federation of Thai Journalists as Head of the delegation who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, had a meeting with Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee, President of the National Press Council of Thailand, senior advisor to the Federation of Thai Journalists and members of the delegation.
During the meeting with Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee and members of his delegation, the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Le Quoc Minh, gave a brief overview of the history of Vietnamese journalism and the formation and development of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, the Vietnam Journalists Association is a political and professional organization representing more than 25,000 journalist members operating throughout Vietnam. The Vietnam Journalists Association is a gathering place for journalists nationwide, responsible for protecting the rights of journalists and reporters; organizing domestic and international activities; and implementing professional skills training for journalists across the country.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh and Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee shared their views on promoting cooperation between the two sides.

In the early months of 2023, units of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Thailand Journalists Association held meetings and exchanges. Local journalists associations in Thailand visited and worked with local journalists associations in Vietnam, and vice versa. Many conferences and seminars were also organized between the two sides. Such coordinated activities are extremely important, not only helping both sides to enhance mutual understanding but also strengthening cooperation and solidarity.

"Besides the development of journalism in developed countries in Europe and America, the role and position of developing countries, especially in Southeast Asia, have been steadily increasing recently. We believe that the Vietnam Journalists Association and media organizations also need to strengthen cooperation to contribute to raising their position in the region," Mr. Le Quoc Minh shared.
Thanking the Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association for taking the time to receive the delegation, Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee said that the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Federation of Thai Journalists have a close relationship at all three levels: in addition to the relationship at the ASEAN Confederation of Journalists (CAJ), there is also a relationship between the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Federation of Thai Journalists, and local journalists associations.

To further enhance cooperation, Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee proposed that the Journalists' Associations of the two countries continue to sign cooperation agreements with content that is appropriate to the current situation. This includes continuing to open Vietnamese language classes for Thai journalists, organizing training and professional exchange programs for journalists from both countries, and providing training to equip journalists with skills for working in disaster situations and in the digital age with the development of social media. On this occasion, Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee also extended an invitation to the President of the Vietnam Journalists' Association and its members to visit Thailand in the near future.
Sharing his thoughts on Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee's proposals, Mr. Le Quoc Minh stated that Vietnam and Thailand share similar geographical locations and many similarities. Following the pandemic, both sides need to cooperate and participate in training programs to enhance journalistic skills. Accessing modern journalistic practices would be highly beneficial for journalists and reporters in both countries, especially in the current context where journalism is facing new approaches. Journalism must constantly innovate to keep pace with the times and retain readers and viewers on digital platforms.

Regarding Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee's proposal for the two sides to jointly participate in football activities and organize exchange events such as "Singing Contests for Journalists of the Two Countries," Mr. Le Quoc Minh stated: "This is a good idea, and the Vietnam Journalists Association is always ready to participate in these activities. Journalist members nationwide will actively respond and participate. However, whether to organize them on a small or large scale will require further discussion and clarification."
