The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport and Public Works (GTCC) recently sent a proposal to the Ministry of Construction , the Vietnam Airports Corporation, and Tan Son Nhat International Airport regarding the plan to connect bus routes in the airport area, including Terminal 3, which is expected to be operational around April 30th.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the unit has coordinated with Bach Khoa Science and Technology Joint Stock Company to research and develop a plan to connect bus routes in the Tan Son Nhat airport area, including connecting to Terminal T3.

This connection plan aims to reduce traffic congestion in the area, and when Terminal 3 becomes operational, it will provide high-quality, modern bus transportation services, partially meeting the needs of passengers.

The Department of Transport and Communications has requested Tan Son Nhat International Airport to prioritize allocating a number of parking spaces (5-7 parking spots) within Terminal 3 (in front of the arrival area) as designated stops for passenger buses, thereby improving the quality of public bus services at the airport.

The Ministry of Construction has agreed to allow the Department of Transport and Public Works to organize the connection of bus routes in the airport area, with approximately 20 routes planned. Simultaneously, the Department of Transport and Public Works is tasked with coordinating the connection of these airport bus routes and researching bus routes connecting Tan Son Nhat International Airport and Long Thanh International Airport.

Tan Son Nhat Airport is the largest airport in the southern region, with peak passenger volumes reaching approximately 150,000 passengers per day. Therefore, during peak hours, the airport's transportation system and connecting roads are often overloaded.

Over the years, Ho Chi Minh City's transportation sector has also implemented many key projects to address traffic congestion in the area, such as the Lang Cha Ca steel overpass, the Truong Son overpass in front of the airport, and the overpass at the Nguyen Kiem - Nguyen Thai Son - Hoang Minh Giam intersection.

The city also spent trillions of dong to expand Hoang Minh Giam, Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa, Hoang Hoa Tham roads, and more.
