On March 26, at Viet Hung Industrial Park, Ha Long City, Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory - the first Skoda automobile factory in Southeast Asia was officially completed and put into operation to produce and assemble automobiles, with equipment lines invested to produce and assemble Skoda automobiles - the oldest automobile brand in the Czech Republic. On June 28, after 3 months since the inauguration and putting into production, Skoda officially introduced its first product assembled at Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory and to date, more than 1,000 automobiles produced from the Factory have been put on the market. This event marks a new turning point in the processing and manufacturing industry of Quang Ninh province after more than 4 years since the Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 01-NQ/TU.
Along with the highlight of Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory, the mark in promoting the development of the province's processing and manufacturing industry during the past period is also shown in a series of quite impressive figures in terms of the number of investment projects, capital scale, growth rate and contribution of the industry to the province's GRDP proportion. Up to now, the province has attracted 73 new investment projects in the processing and manufacturing sector. At the same time, it has approved capital increase adjustments for 40 projects, with the total attracted investment capital reaching nearly 209,000 billion VND; of which FDI capital reached about more than 6.6 billion USD. By the end of August 2025, the whole province has more than 1,000 enterprises operating in the processing and manufacturing industry. Quang Ninh's processing and manufacturing industry has a growth rate of more than 32% compared to the same period in 2024. 10/14 basic products have achieved and exceeded the 9-month plan, such as: knitted fabrics (up 70.4%), televisions (up 34.8%), speakers and headphones (up 19%), solar panels (up 36.5%), vinyl tiles (up 13.5%) and vehicles of all kinds (up 16.3%)...
From a foundation of strong growth and impressive investment attraction, the processing and manufacturing industry in Quang Ninh continues to make its mark with the participation of many large domestic and foreign corporations. International corporations have chosen Quang Ninh as the place to build and expand their production systems. Typically, Foxconn Group, a "giant" in the high-tech industry, has invested in 5 projects here with a total capital of nearly 1 billion USD. Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory, put into operation from 2025 with a design capacity of more than 120,000 vehicles/year, not only creates a driving force to attract auto parts businesses but also contributes to increasing product value.
In addition to promoting the attraction of processing and manufacturing industry projects, attracting new generation high-quality FDI resources, the processing and manufacturing industry has been making a significant and sustainable contribution to the proportion in the province's GDP structure. Up to now, the scale of the industry has accounted for nearly 13% in the GRDP structure; contributing 3.2% to GRDP growth. Not only making its mark in economic development, the processing and manufacturing industry also has many social contributions, being a source of long-term employment and stable income, creating jobs for a large number of workers. After more than 4 years of implementing the resolution, projects in the processing and manufacturing industry have created jobs for tens of thousands of new workers, bringing the total number of workers in this field to about 45,000 people.
Since the beginning of the term, Quang Ninh's processing and manufacturing industry has attracted 8.98 billion USD in investment capital, of which 6.74 billion USD is FDI capital, ranking among the top localities in the country in 2023 and 2024. The industry maintains an average growth rate of over 21% per year, more than 3 times higher than in 2020; total investment capital in the industry reached 2.04 billion USD... These results have demonstrated that the processing and manufacturing industry is gradually becoming a new growth driver for Quang Ninh's economy. Quang Ninh has also gradually formed a number of specialized industrial parks for the processing and manufacturing industry such as industrial parks for automobiles, electric vehicles, some specialized zones related to the assembly of electronic components, and specialized industrial parks related to the textile industry. More importantly, the province has attracted major brands in the processing and manufacturing industry to the area, typically Foxconn Group, Jinko Solar Group, TCL Group...
Currently, in the spirit of continuing to support the strong development of the processing and manufacturing industry, Quang Ninh accompanies to remove bottlenecks and has encouraging impacts for enterprises to carry out the task of developing the processing and manufacturing industry. In particular, focusing on proposing amendments to policies related to import and export taxes; removing obstacles in institutions and land; promoting investment in infrastructure readiness, connecting to industrial parks, site clearance... to welcome large enterprises to invest in this key field.
