Green solutions for the environment

Focusing on disinfection in the aquaculture industry, Wesolife was founded in 2020 with many experienced experts and a passion for the environment. The company applies electrochemical technology to produce chlorine from saltwater without the need for chemicals.

Mr. Huynh Cong Tan, founder and CEO of Wesolife, said that in reality, in daily life and production, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, disinfection with chlorine is quite important. In intensive and super-intensive shrimp farming, chlorine is widely used to disinfect water.

However, using liquid chlorine to disinfect water poses many dangers to both human health and the environment.

These concerns motivated him to seek more sustainable and safer alternative solutions. He recounted that they began experimenting with automating the powdered chlorine production process in 2018. Two years later, they experimented with electrochemical technology to produce chlorine directly from brine.

"This technology helps minimize safety risks, reduce operating costs, and especially reduce CO₂ emissions, which is essential in the context of current climate change," Mr. Tan shared.

This focuses on optimal disinfection solutions, environmental protection, and sustainable development. More broadly, these solutions can be applied to disinfecting shrimp farming water, treating water supply and wastewater, washing fruits and vegetables in households or hospitals, and in agriculture .

This startup, based in Ca Mau, is finalizing an IoT solution for operational use. This will help monitor water quality and the environment in aquaculture, thereby improving farming efficiency and operational safety, and minimizing risks.

Wesolife's products have been tested and successfully applied in numerous aquaculture farms, including in several countries in the region.

In addition, Wesolife also researches and develops other expanded products to meet customer needs and contribute to the sustainable development of society.

Enhancing brand value internationally.

With over 25 years of experience working in the water supply and drainage sector, the founder of Wesolife has had the opportunity to witness and participate in the water disinfection process using liquefied chlorine gas. These experiences have given Mr. Tan a deep understanding of the challenges related to safety and the environment.

Starting his business with electrochemical sterilization equipment, Mr. Tan believed that this product needed to provide a green, sustainable, and environmentally friendly solution. However, the biggest challenge the team faced was not only financial but also technical in the early years.

"Convincing the market to accept a new product that is safer and more sustainable than traditional methods is also a challenge."

Wesolife's unique selling point lies in its application of electrochemical technology to create safe disinfectant products, eliminating reliance on imported chemicals. The company targets a niche market with significant growth potential, especially given the increasing demand for green and safe solutions across industries.

Sharing its future plans, Wesolife will expand production scale and improve technology. At the same time, it will seek international cooperation opportunities to bring its products to the world .

Wesolife has won numerous prestigious awards, including first prize in the Ca Mau Province Innovation Startup Competition 2022, champion of Design Thinking - Open Innovation 2023, top 10 at Techfest Vietnam 2023, and top 50 at Start-up Wheel 2023.

2024 was a significant milestone when this start-up won three major awards at the Tech Planter Vietnam 2024 competition. This included representing Vietnam in the finals in Malaysia and making it into the top 10 of the Green Innovation Fellowship program.

Coffee Talk at the Youth Start-up Award 2024: How the special prize was judged.

The Tuoi Tre Start-up Award 2024 is organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper and the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, in collaboration with the Business Support Center for Young Entrepreneurs (BSSC) and the Packaging Recycling Alliance of Vietnam (PRO Vietnam).

The judging panel will interact and connect with startups through a special Coffee Talk judging format. Promising startups will be honored at a gala scheduled for November 2024.

In addition to sharing their stories in the media, participating startups have the opportunity to access various investment funds and receive media coverage and promotion to the community.
