| Doctors and nurses are intervening in the case of baby Ly D.D., who has choked on a foreign object. |
Upon admission, doctors promptly examined the boy and discovered he had swallowed a foreign object lodged in his esophagus. X-ray results showed the metallic object blocking the upper third of the esophagus, a very dangerous position that could cause airway obstruction if not treated promptly.
The medical team at Bac Quang Regional General Hospital quickly performed an emergency endoscopy. After more than 10 minutes of focused and tense effort, the nearly 3cm long foreign object was safely removed without causing any damage to the esophagus. Following the intervention, the child's health stabilized, and they continued to be monitored at the hospital.
According to the family, while playing at home, child D accidentally swallowed a school bag hook. After swallowing, the child experienced choking, chest pain, vomiting, and mild shortness of breath. The family quickly took the child to a private clinic for examination, but they were unable to treat the condition, so they took child D to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Following this incident, doctors advise families not to let young children play alone with small, sharp objects such as coins, beads, buttons, keychains, hard sticks, etc. Children should be taught the habit of not putting objects in their mouths, and they should always be supervised and monitored.
