Lam Dong: More than 1,700 houses flooded due to heavy rains

On the afternoon of December 4, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province quickly reported on the damage caused by floods in the area. Accordingly, during the night of December 3 to the early morning of December 4, heavy rains occurred in many areas in Lam Dong province, causing a lot of damage.

Hundreds of households in Ham Thuan commune ( Lam Dong ) were deeply submerged in floodwaters.

According to preliminary statistics from localities, by noon on December 4, about 1,705 houses were affected and flooded, and floodwaters continued to rise. More than 1,000 households were deeply submerged in water and had to be urgently evacuated to safety. The most severe flooding was in the coastal communes and wards of Lam Dong province, such as: Ham Liem commune was flooded on a large scale, 300 households were evacuated; Luong Son commune was flooded with about 400 houses, 25 households were evacuated; Lien Huong commune had 350 flooded households evacuated...

Damage to agricultural production occurred on a large scale, and localities are organizing inspections and damage assessments. In Lien Huong commune, more than 250 boats were swept out to sea. In addition, many traffic routes in many areas in the province were flooded, cut off, causing traffic jams.

Immediately after receiving the flood discharge notice from the management unit, localities organized forces and vehicles to evacuate people from high, deep, and fast-flowing flooded areas, ensuring food, drinking water, and essential necessities in the areas where people were evacuated and relocated, not letting people go hungry, cold, or lack drinking water....

Rainfall forecast in the coming time is to continue to be widespread, with moderate to heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places. Rainfall is generally from 20-40mm, with some places being higher than 90mm.

Volunteers assisted in the emergency evacuation of flooded people to safety.

On the morning of December 4, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee urgently directed localities to promptly deploy support to evacuate assets and people from flooded areas, and localities to proactively "on-the-spot" measures. Deploy warning signs, stretch ropes, and barricades in dangerous areas, absolutely do not be negligent or subjective, closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts of natural disasters and weather to regularly notify people to proactively prevent and minimize damage caused by bad weather phenomena, especially subsidence and landslides.

The Provincial People's Committee requested localities to increase forces to organize traffic guidance and regulation from afar to separate traffic flows, resolutely not allowing people and vehicles to enter areas with deep flooding, strong currents, and landslides. Mobilize forces to overcome landslides on traffic routes to ensure traffic flow.
