For the first time, Vietnam trains masters in software engineering applying AI in business analysis

FPT has launched the Master of Software Engineering in AI Applications in Business Analytics (MSE BA) program in the form of direct training from 2025, at 4 training facilities in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho.

MSE BA is one of the pioneering programs in Vietnam integrating AI into business data analysis, training in a form that combines theory with practice.

In the context of strong digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) has become an important tool to help businesses exploit data to optimize operations and make faster decisions.

On a global scale, the size of the data analytics industry in 2024 reached about 74.8 billion USD and is expected to increase to 94.9 billion USD in 2025 with a growth rate of 26.8%/year. In Vietnam, this market is forecast to increase from 297 million USD in 2024 to 677 million USD in 2033, corresponding to a growth rate of 9.6%/year.

However, the lack of highly specialized human resources remains the biggest barrier preventing many businesses from converting data into specific action strategies.

According to the former Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the demand for human resources in the fields of AI, data analysis and modeling is increasing by 25-30% per year, while the supply can only meet 40-50%. Sharing this view, the World Economic Forum (WEF) Future of Jobs 2025 Report also predicts that “big data experts” will be one of the fastest growing occupations by 2030.

To meet this need, FSB built the MSE BA program to train a team of experts capable of building AI products to transform data into strategic decision-making tools, helping businesses optimize operations and increase competitive advantage.

MSE BA is one of the pioneering programs in Vietnam that integrates AI into business data analysis, training in a form that combines theory with practice, taught by a team of lecturers who are AI and data experts.

The difference of the MSE BA program lies in the in-depth training content on AI applications in business analysis. The training content combines the knowledge base of AI, programming, natural language processing, computer vision with knowledge of AI applications in human resources, marketing, software development, especially with GenAI technology.

MSE BA is a project-based training program, combining theory with practice. Students will carry out real-life projects and directly solve business technology problems with lecturers and experts.

In parallel, MSE BA students are connected to a community of experienced AI and data experts, through lecturers who are associate professors, PhDs and guest speakers in specialized seminars. As a result, students have more opportunities to expand their networks, share experiences and grasp the latest trends in the field of data and AI.

Dr. Doan Xuan Huy Minh, Director of FSB Institute of Management & Technology, Ho Chi Minh City,FPT Corporation, said: “Through the process of working and consulting, we realized that the market has a gap in human resources - people who can read and understand data to support the management board and the board of directors in making business decisions. The training goal of MSE BA is to provide human resources capable of using the latest technologies in AI, machine learning and related fields to apply to data analysis, thereby finding the most valuable information to support the decision-making process in business”.

The MSE BA is an 18-month program with flexible schedules outside of office hours in the evenings or on weekends. The program is suitable for IT professionals who want to improve their skills in AI and data analysis, and experienced managers who need a deeper understanding of data to guide their strategies more effectively. Upon graduation, students will receive a regular Master's degree from FPT University, recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.

In the first year of the program, FSB is offering scholarships of up to 30% of the MSE BA program tuition fee to candidates who register for admission as early as the November 2025 intake.
