Spreading the spirit of charity and sharing in the Thanh Xuan community

Thanh Xuan Ward, one of 126 communes and wards in Hanoi city. In recent times, the ward has implemented quite synchronous policies and programs to support poor households, near-poor households, and people in especially difficult circumstances.

With the attention of the ward government, the consensus of the people and businesses, social security work in the locality has achieved many remarkable results. In the context of implementing the 2-level local government model (from July 1, 2025), the need to support and care for vulnerable groups is even greater, so activities "for the poor" and social support are given top priority.

Outstanding programs and activities

One of the pillars of social security in the ward is the “For the Poor” Fund, which is mobilized, managed and used by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward. In particular, every year there is a “Peak Month for the Poor” - a peak time to call for support and donations from organizations, businesses, individuals, officials, civil servants and people in the area.

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Xuan Ward Nguyen Xuan Hai said that in 2025, the ward's "Peak Month" will be implemented from October 17 to November 18.

The goal is not only to mobilize resources, but also to promote the tradition of solidarity, mutual love and mutual assistance of the nation; so that the entire community, from the State, businesses, to the people, join hands to care for the poor, families in difficult circumstances, the lonely and the sick.

From the Fund, the ward has organized gift giving, scholarships, and support for many subjects: poor and near-poor households; workers; children; lonely elderly people; people with serious illnesses; and policy families.

Specifically, since the operation of the 2-level local government model (July 1, 2025) up to now, the Ward's "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee has presented 198 gifts to households, workers, and children in difficult circumstances, and 75 gifts to policy families; the total value is nearly 160 million VND. In addition, the ward has had regular support programs for children in difficult circumstances who are entitled to social assistance.

In addition to gifts, the ward has also supported the construction and repair of houses for poor and near-poor households in the city; supported livelihoods, means of production, loans, etc. to help households stabilize their lives according to the model of social security programs throughout the city.

Not only stopping at economic support, Thanh Xuan ward has encouraged forms of support from the community: through residential groups, neighborhoods, and residential groups; implementing programs such as "Zero-VND Market", "Loving Rice Bowl", "Tet for the Poor"... to support disadvantaged families - lonely elderly people, patients, workers, people in special circumstances - in the spirit of sharing and mutual support.

These activities not only bring material value, gifts, necessities, and supplies, but also spread community sentiment; help recipients feel cared for and shared; reduce feelings of loneliness and being "abandoned" by society.

According to comrade Nguyen Xuan Hai, social security activities in Thanh Xuan ward do not depend on a single unit or time, but are continuous and widespread. The ward People's Committee, organizations, the Fatherland Front, unions, enterprises, and the Fatherland Front Working Committee in residential areas all participate. The mobilization of support is carried out publicly; the use of funds is managed according to regulations, ensuring support for the right subjects, creating trust among the people, thereby spreading the movement more widely.

Remarkable results

Thanks to synchronous efforts, up to now, Thanh Xuan ward has recorded practical results, bringing clear efficiency in social security work, caring for the disadvantaged.

In the recent campaign (2025), the ward's "For the Poor" Fund mobilized more than 500 million VND - a testament to the spirit of solidarity and mutual support of the people, businesses, and local authorities.

From this fund, the ward has given 198 gifts to families, workers, and children in difficult circumstances; 75 gifts to policy families; total value of nearly 160 million VND.

For children, especially students in difficult circumstances, the ward has given gifts, scholarships, and practical support; and some students are currently receiving regular social assistance.

From the “For the Poor” Fund, Thanh Xuan Ward has supported the construction and repair of many Great Unity houses; awarded hundreds of gifts and scholarships to poor students who have overcome difficulties; supported livelihoods and preferential loans to help disadvantaged households develop their economy and stabilize their lives. In addition, residential groups in the area have proactively organized many meaningful programs such as “Zero-VND Market”, “Bowl of Love Porridge”, “Tet for the Poor”, contributing to spreading love and the spirit of sharing in the community.

The results achieved in the work of caring for the poor in Thanh Xuan ward not only demonstrate the fine tradition of charity of our nation, but also affirm the role and responsibility of the government and people of all walks of life in implementing the goal of social security, building Thanh Xuan ward to be increasingly civilized, affectionate and sustainably developed.

According to Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Xuan Ward Nguyen Xuan Hai, in the ward there are still many households, workers and children in difficult circumstances, lonely elderly people, and patients with serious illnesses who need support. Therefore, the Peak Month "For the Poor" in 2025 is not only a call but also a concrete action, demonstrating a strong commitment to mobilizing social resources to help the poor to stabilize their lives.

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Xuan Ward Nguyen Xuan Hai requested agencies, units, organizations, businesses and individuals to continue to accompany and support the Fund "For the Poor"; residential groups and the Front Work Committee need to proactively review and promptly grasp the circumstances that need help, ensuring the support is directed to the right subjects, publicly and effectively.

Representative of the grassroots, Ms. Le Thi Minh Ly, Head of the Front Work Committee of Thanh Xuan Bac 9 residential area, expressed her determination to strongly respond to the movement "For the poor and social security" in 2025. Ms. Ly said that in the past time, the residential area has effectively maintained the model "Loving residential area", presented 51 gifts to 49 families in difficult circumstances and supported the ward's "For the poor" Fund with an amount of 38.85 million VND.

Ms. Ly affirmed that the work of mobilizing support for the poor is not only a regular task but also a responsibility and noble gesture of every Thanh Xuan resident. The Residential Front Committee will continue to propagate and mobilize people to participate in support with specific and practical actions, ensuring that all resources are used for the right purpose, right target, openly and transparently.

Up to now, the Fund “For the Poor” of Thanh Xuan Ward has reached 800 million VND. With the attention of the Party Committee, the government, and the spirit of solidarity and affection of the people, the movement “For the poor and social security” in Thanh Xuan Ward promises to continue to spread widely, contributing to creating motivation for those in difficult circumstances to rise up in life.

Social security activities, supporting the disadvantaged in Thanh Xuan ward with the leading role of the "For the Poor" Fund, the joint efforts of the entire government system, businesses and people have been creating a humane, practical and sustainable support network. The results achieved from gifts, student support, house building/repair, livelihood support not only help the poor and disadvantaged to reduce their immediate difficulties, but also lay the foundation for them to stabilize, rise up and integrate into the community.

In an increasingly developing and changing urban area, when many families are vulnerable to difficulties due to high living costs, work pressure, and unstable income, working together and supporting each other like in Thanh Xuan becomes more and more important. Building a flexible, transparent, and comprehensive social security system that combines material, spiritual, and livelihood support will help ensure that "no one is left behind", that every citizen, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to live a meaningful life and the opportunity to rise up.
