In Ninh Binh, in response to International Happiness Day, many agencies, units, schools, and residential areas have undertaken practical and meaningful actions to create a truly safe, healthy, and happy living, working, and learning environment. Implementing the theme for the 2023-2024 school year for preschool education , "Building happy preschools, with children at the center," preschools in the province have made many innovations to create a friendly and healthy environment where children feel joy and excitement every day they come to school.
At Nam Son Kindergarten (Tam Diep City), innovating educational methods is one of the key aspects of building a "happy kindergarten." Ms. Vu Thi Tam Thao, Principal of Nam Son Kindergarten, stated: With 382 children and 17 classes, the school has consistently focused on improving the quality of education over the past years, creating a holistic development environment and stimulating children's interest in learning and playing.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the school implemented innovative educational methods, establishing model STEAM classes in two 5-year-old classes for wider application. As part of this innovation, the school's facilities and teaching equipment have been upgraded and improved. Teaching aids and toys are no longer ready-made but utilize readily available materials from everyday life, making them more accessible and understandable for children. The teaching staff themselves have also strived to learn, research materials, and participate in specialized training to master advanced educational methods and apply them effectively in their teaching.
Teacher Duong Thi Loan, a teacher in class 5A, said: "As the person closest to the children, each of us teachers strives to make the lessons easy to understand, stimulate their initiative and creativity, and create fun and meaningful lessons. In addition, a kind and gentle attitude from the teacher makes the children feel more comfortable and confident. Therefore, coming to school every day is always a joyful day for many children at Nam Son Kindergarten because they get to play, learn age-appropriate knowledge, and develop life skills outside the school grounds such as baking, picking vegetables, and planting flowers… For the teaching staff, working in a happy school environment is also a joy and a source of happiness for each teacher."

Visiting the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Tinh (Bac Thanh Street, Tan Thanh Ward, Ninh Binh City), the old house is always filled with the laughter and chatter of four generations living together. Welcoming guests, Ms. Tinh's entire family, including her mother-in-law, Ms. Tinh and her husband, their daughter, and their granddaughter, were all present.
Ms. Tinh shared: "My family used to be farmers . My mother-in-law, at 70 years old, is still diligently planting and harvesting, so she's always been a role model for her children and grandchildren. After we lost all our farmland, my husband and I switched to working odd jobs. When he was a construction worker, I worked as an assistant, and then we started a small business. We've worked hard for many years, but my husband and I have always encouraged each other to persevere for our children's future."
Currently, among the neighbors on Bac Thanh Street, Ms. Tinh's family is a model of a happy family that everyone looks up to and learns from. All three of their children are well-educated and successful: one son works in Hanoi, another is in Japan, and their daughter works at the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital. Since Tet (Lunar New Year), Ms. Tinh has also become a "second mother" to her 7-month-old grandson, whose parents left him with them while they went to Japan for work. Despite being busy with household chores, Ms. Tinh remains cheerful and optimistic, still finding time to participate in the activities and movements of the women's association in the neighborhood.
Mr. Dam Xuan Vinh, Ms. Tinh's husband, is a self-employed worker but is also enthusiastic about the activities of the women's association. On occasions when the association organizes cultural and sports events, he also helps with cleaning and setting up the sound system for the women's performances.
Speaking about her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Doan, 87 years old, shared: "I've been a daughter-in-law for nearly 40 years, but there's no distance between us because I treat her like my own daughter. Witnessing my grandchildren grow up and become successful, I'm always happy and content because they've been nurtured with love, care, and attention from their grandparents and parents..."
Over the years, the Women's Union at all levels has actively promoted the building of prosperous, happy, progressive, and civilized families through the dissemination of policies and laws on family and children, and the role of the family in social development, using diverse forms and practical content. Many activities such as: caring for flower and tree-lined roads, tidying up houses, displaying the national flag; cooking competitions "Family Meal," exchanges "Connecting with Love," "Happiness or Not Is in Our Own Hands"… have contributed to raising awareness and knowledge among members and women about building happy families.
In June 2012, the United Nations declared March 20th as the International Day of Happiness. 193 member states (including Vietnam) pledged to support this day through efforts to improve the quality of life, build a just society, and achieve sustainable development, all aimed at bringing happiness to their people.
On December 26, 2013, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2589/QD-TTg approving the Project "Organizing activities on International Happiness Day, March 20th annually" to raise awareness among all levels, sectors, organizations, individuals, families, and the entire society about International Happiness Day.
From there, concrete and practical actions can be taken to build happy families and happy communities for Vietnamese people; strengthening the participation and coordination among all levels, sectors, and strata of the population, as well as the cooperation and assistance of organizations and individuals inside and outside the country for activities on International Happiness Day.
To make International Happiness Day truly meaningful, over the years, all levels, sectors, localities, units, and schools in the province have made many efforts to successfully implement socio-economic development tasks, ensure social security, and contribute to gradually building a happy society and community.
At the same time, inheriting and promoting the fine traditional values of the Vietnamese nation, "Even in difficult times, people of the same country must love each other," many collectives and individuals have joined hands to share and help those in difficult circumstances in life, so that more individuals and families can be happy...
