Flower growers are present almost day and night in the flower fields, they are busy watering, fertilizing, and taking care of the flower beds to make them flourish, preparing for a beautiful, high-quality flower season to serve the 2025 Lunar New Year market.

Visiting the chrysanthemum garden of Mr. Dang Xuan Huy's family, zone 6, Tien Du commune, who has 23 years of experience growing flowers in Thuong village, with more than 1 hectare of flower growing land, Mr. Huy's family is expected to supply the market with more than 10,000 chrysanthemums on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025.

People in Thuong flower growing village are busy taking care of flowers.

Mr. Huy shared: “Every year, at the beginning of the ninth lunar month, villagers will start to plow the land and light lamps to take care of the flowers, preparing for the Tet season. This year's flower season started with difficulties due to dry weather and little rain, but up to this point, the weather is stable, the plants are growing well and have buds. Last year, 5 days before Tet, I gave the flowers to traders to buy at the garden for 4,000 VND/chrysanthemum, I hope this year will also maintain the same price."

In the hustle and bustle of the last days of the year, the family of Mr. Nguyen Anh Tai - Head of the flower growing village of Thuong village is also busy with flower care. Mr. Tai said: "Currently, the flower care stage is in the stage of spraying pesticides to prevent pests and diseases. To ensure the quality of the flowers, we have to spray pesticides to prevent pests and diseases, and fertilize regularly every 20 days. Chrysanthemums that meet the standards must have green leaves, straight branches, long petals, thick stems, and be 80 - 110cm tall."

According to Mr. Tai, the wholesale price of chrysanthemums in Thuong village usually ranges from 3,000 to 4,000 VND/flower, depending on quality and time. If the flower season is favorable, people can earn up to 60% profit compared to the investment cost. This is a fairly stable income during Tet, helping flower growers cover living expenses and invest in the following crops.

Tien Du Commune has nearly 30 households growing flowers. It is expected that Thuong Village will supply the market with about 200,000 chrysanthemums for Tet 2025. Although the number of flowers has decreased by nearly half compared to previous years, partly due to climate change, people still hope that the weather from now until Tet will be favorable, and the flowers will sell at high prices.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Chat, Vice Chairman of Tien Du Commune People's Committee, said: "Thuong village flower growing craft village is one of the traditional craft villages of Tien Du commune, which has been established and developed for more than 20 years. In 2001, only a few households experimented with growing chrysanthemums to sell at the market. Seeing the high economic value of flower growing, in 2004, many households in the commune participated in flower growing. Despite facing many difficulties, the people here still persevere in their profession, because for them, flower growing is not only a livelihood, but also the pride of the traditional craft village. On average, a flower crop supplied to the Tet market will often help people earn from 40 to 50 million VND."

At the same time, it will focus on converting flower varieties, growing more flowers with high economic value and supplementing knowledge for workers about modern farming techniques. Investing in infrastructure and developing craft villages is also one of the important goals to improve flower quality and meet the increasing demand of the market.
