On the morning of October 23rd, the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a hybrid in-person and online conference with the participation of representatives from departments, agencies, units, and 114 wards, communes, and special zones throughout the city to exchange, discuss, and solicit feedback on the development of four major projects in the fields of culture, sports, and tourism.
The projects include: “Building Hai Phong into a City of Music in the period 2026 - 2030, with a vision to 2045”; “Developing physical education and sports in Hai Phong city until 2030, with a vision to 2045”; “Developing football in Hai Phong city until 2030, with a vision to 2045” and “Overall plan for tourism development in Hai Phong city until 2030, with a vision to 2045”.
The development of these four projects aims to concretize the policies and resolutions of the Central Government, the City Party Committee, the City People's Council, and the City People's Committee on the development of culture and people in Hai Phong in the new period, linked to the goal of making culture, sports, and tourism important pillars in the city's sustainable development strategy.
The "Hai Phong - City of Music" project is a prominent highlight, aiming to bring Hai Phong into the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music. The project affirms that Hai Phong has all the necessary conditions to become a creative music center of the Northern region – a place where traditional, contemporary, and international musical values converge and spread. Music is seen as a means of educating people, nurturing the soul and morality, arousing pride and creativity, and simultaneously becoming a driving force for the development of the cultural industry, promoting the image of the city as a "Civilized, Creative, and Integrated Port City".
The sports development plan focuses on improving the health and stature of the people, building a widespread mass sports movement, developing high-performance sports, and aiming to make Hai Phong a strong sports center of the Northern coastal region and the whole country.
The Hai Phong football development plan aims to reaffirm the city's position as "the port city - a football city," developing comprehensively from professional football to youth football and grassroots movements, towards building a comprehensive football ecosystem that connects sports with culture and tourism.
The overall tourism development plan for Hai Phong city aims to build a unified Hai Phong - Hai Duong area into a regional and international center for marine tourism, culture, and heritage, with Cat Ba - Do Son - Con Son - Kiet Bac as its pillars, and to develop green, smart, and sustainable tourism.
Delegates at the conference assessed that the simultaneous implementation of the four projects demonstrates Hai Phong city's strategic and comprehensive vision in developing the cultural, sports, and tourism industries, creating a foundation for Hai Phong to become a cultural, sports, and tourism center of the Northern coastal region, while also elevating the city's position in the network of creative cities worldwide.
