(Dan Tri Newspaper) – This morning, August 8th, a solemn flag-raising ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Hanoi) to commemorate the 57th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN.

This morning, on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN (August 8, 1967 – August 8, 2022), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs solemnly held the ASEAN flag-raising ceremony for 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters (No. 1 Ton That Dam Street, Hanoi ).

Attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet, leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Ambassadors, Chargé d'affaires, and representatives of ASEAN embassies in Hanoi.

At exactly 7:30 AM, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet presided over the ceremony, in the presence of Ambassadors from ASEAN countries, leaders of ministries and agencies, the People's Committee of Hanoi City, and related units.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet affirmed the increasingly strong role and position of ASEAN. In the context of a volatile and unpredictable world situation with conflicts and divisions, ASEAN continues to be a model of success in regional integration and cooperation. Along with the principle that "ASEAN cooperation and integration is a top priority and a strategic choice," Vietnam has always strived and contributed wholeheartedly to a united and strong ASEAN.

The ASEAN Flag Raising Ceremony, held annually on the occasion of ASEAN's founding anniversary on August 8th, symbolizes ASEAN as a united, cohesive, strong, and dynamic regional organization, playing a central role in regional cooperation mechanisms and processes, and contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
