Yesterday afternoon (September 8th), after making landfall in Guangdong province, China, Typhoon No. 7 weakened into a tropical depression and continued to weaken into a low-pressure area last night before dissipating. Last night and this morning (September 9th), remnants of the typhoon caused heavy rain in the mountainous areas of Northern Vietnam.
Rainfall measured from 7 PM on September 8th to 3 AM on September 9th exceeded 80mm in some areas, such as Thach An station ( Cao Bang ) with 97.4mm, Ha Long station (Quang Ninh) with 87mm, and Tan Minh station (Lang Son) with 83.5mm.
Forecasts indicate that from the morning of September 9th to the night of September 10th, the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam will continue to experience moderate to heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, with localized very heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts will generally range from 70-150mm, with some areas exceeding 300mm.
The Northern Delta region experienced little rain this morning, but scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and tonight, with localized moderate to heavy rain. The rain will occur in intermittent bursts. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

Additionally, this afternoon and evening, due to the strong southwest monsoon, the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam will continue to experience showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain in some areas, with rainfall amounts of 15-30mm, and over 80mm in some places. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
From Thanh Hoa to Hue today, it will be sunny, with some areas experiencing hot weather. Showers and thunderstorms are expected in some areas in the late afternoon and evening. Southwesterly winds will be at level 2-3. The lowest temperature will be 25-28 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 32-35 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 35 degrees Celsius.
The South Central Coast region will have sunny weather today, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, and scattered showers and thunderstorms in some areas at night. Southwesterly winds will be at level 2-3. There is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. The lowest temperature will be 24-27 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 31-34 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 34 degrees Celsius.
Forecasts for the coming days indicate sunny weather during the day in the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue and along the South Central coast, with scattered thunderstorms possible in the evening, but with little chance of widespread heavy rain.
