On January 23, information from the Dong Dang - Lang Son Economic Zone Management Board said that fruit is the most exported item to the Chinese market. Specifically, on January 22, out of 413 trucks exported to China, fruit accounted for 297 trucks. On January 21, Lang Son road border gates processed the export procedures for 336 trucks of fruit. Previously, on January 20, 327 trucks of fruit were exported to China.
Dragon fruit exports to the Chinese market increased sharply during the Lunar New Year 2024
Fruits exported to China are mainly cleared through Tan Thanh Border Gate and Huu Nghi International Border Gate. According to information from Tan Thanh Border Gate, during the Lunar New Year period every year, dragon fruit, jackfruit, and bananas are the fruits that businesses promote for export to the Chinese market.
Specifically, on January 21, Tan Thanh Border Gate completed export procedures for 1,900 tons of dragon fruit, 1,702 tons of jackfruit, 1,501 tons of fresh mango, and 1,347 tons of watermelon. On January 22, Tan Thanh Border Gate exported 1,530 tons of watermelon, 2,204 tons of dragon fruit, and 1,242 tons of mango.
On January 20, 1,564 tons of dragon fruit, 1,275 tons of jackfruit and 1,051 tons of fresh watermelon were exported to China through Tan Thanh Border Gate.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, Head of the Plant Protection Sub-Department of Region VII, at the border gates in Lang Son , in the first month of 2024, fruit exports to the Chinese market recorded very strong growth. According to statistics, fruit export output increased by about 30% compared to the same period last year.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, the Plant Protection Department of Region VII has directed units to arrange enough human resources to carry out the fastest plant quarantine process for shipments, in order to create the most favorable conditions for export enterprises.
Mr. Hoang Khanh Duy, Deputy Head of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board, said that on average, Lang Son receives about 500 trucks carrying goods from inland provinces every day, mainly fresh fruits exported to China. Although the number of trucks carrying fruit to Lang Son is very large, the border gates have shortened the customs clearance time so there is no congestion of export trucks like in previous years.
Sharing with Thanh Nien , Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, for the Chinese market, dragon fruit and jackfruit are both high-value export fruits for many years. In December 2023, Vietnam and China officially signed and announced the Watermelon Export Protocol. It is forecasted that this year, watermelon exports to the Chinese market will have a sudden growth.
