According to the Hai Duong Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station, due to the influence of the circulation of Typhoon No. 2, from the evening of July 22nd, areas in the province experienced moderate to heavy rain, with some places experiencing very heavy rain. Rainfall amounts up to 7:00 AM on July 23rd were generally between 40-60 mm. Localities with high rainfall included Kinh Mon town (92.7 mm), Kim Thanh district (80.4 mm), Thanh Mien district (68 mm), etc.
Given the situation of rapidly increasing heavy rainfall that could cause flooding and affect agricultural production, the Hai Duong Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited has operated 51 flood control pumping stations with 265 pumps in 11 districts, cities, and towns (excluding Hai Duong City). Based on the rainfall situation, the company will operate the pumping stations accordingly.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kim Thanh district, due to the impact of typhoon No. 2, as of 10:30 AM on July 23rd, a total of 400 hectares in the entire district were partially flooded, including: Dai Duc 264 hectares (of which nearly 50 hectares of broadcast-sown rice were completely submerged), Tuan Viet 20 hectares, Ngu Phuc 10 hectares, etc.
Currently, the Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise has organized the 8-tap pumping station in Dai Duc commune to pump water to "save" the rice crops. In other areas of the district, water levels remain within safe limits. Trees, vegetables, and rice crops have not yet been affected. However, to proactively prevent and combat flooding, Kim Thanh district has directed the Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise and the communes to open all sluice gates under the dikes to drain water. They have also organized the operation of 5 drainage pumping stations: Dai Duc, Tuan May, Viet Hung, Kim Xuyen, and Kim Dinh. On the morning of July 23rd, Kim Thanh district also organized a delegation to inspect flood and storm prevention work in the localities.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tu Ky district, on the morning of July 23, more than 200 hectares of newly planted rice in the locality were completely flooded due to the impact of typhoon No. 2. The flooded rice fields were concentrated in the communes of Binh Lang, Tien Dong, Ha Thanh, etc.
Tu Ky District has operated 11 drainage pumping stations to protect rice and vegetable crops. The People's Committee of Tu Ky District requested the District's Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise to coordinate with local authorities to proactively open sluice gates to drain water according to regulations, focusing on measures to ensure safety for production, especially preventing flooding of newly sown rice, summer-autumn vegetable crops, and concentrated aquaculture areas.
As of 7:00 AM on July 23rd, Nam Sach district had 29 hectares of rice fields and 3 hectares of vegetable crops flooded. The flooded areas were mainly in Thai Tan and Nam Tan communes.
