In 2025, Kaity Nguyen will return to the screen with the Lunar New Year film "Falling in Love with My Best Friend," playing the role of Binh An. The image of Binh An during her high school years is reminiscent of her role as Linh Dan in "Em Chua 18" (I'm Not Yet 18). At 26, does Kaity Nguyen find playing a high school girl more difficult or easier?

- Luckily, I didn't "stuck" in my age. I'm happy that the audience still believes that it's the 18-year-old Binh An character.

At 26, playing a schoolgirl isn't too difficult, because my personality hasn't changed much since then; only my work style has changed. In real life, I'm still a dreamy, innocent girl.

In the film, Kaity Nguyen's character has romantic relationships with both Toan (Ngoc Vang) and Vu (Thanh Son). As a co-star, what do you think of Ngoc Vang and Thanh Son's personalities in real life?

- We get along very well. Thanh Son surprised me because at first, I thought he was serious, but in reality, he's very funny and charming. Thanh Son has a very unique kind of humor that I wouldn't have known about if I hadn't become friends with him.

As for Ngoc Vang, I see many similarities between you and Bao Toan, with your gentle personality. I hope Ngoc Vang will have more opportunities to become more confident, be more accepted, and embody a wider variety of roles.

When "Falling in Love with My Best Friend" was released, some viewers commented that the chemistry between Kaity and Ngoc Vang wasn't genuine or convincing. How does Kaity feel about this collaboration with Ngoc Vang?

- I think everyone will have their own opinion. Personally, I found the chemistry with my co-star quite good, at least for the director and other viewers to feel fulfilled. Some viewers may have a different perspective, and I am very grateful for those comments so that I can learn from them and do better next time.

From "Blood Moon Party" to "Falling in Love with My Best Friend," it's clear that director Nguyen Quang Dung has a particular preference for Kaity Nguyen. Can you share about your connection with director Nguyen Quang Dung?

- I collaborated with Mr. Nguyen Quang Dung by chance. We knew each other through our working circle, so perhaps he was always looking for suitable scripts for me. I always said that I didn't need a romantic script, but rather a more introspective character. He always noticed and remembered me, and that's something I'm very grateful for.

Making her debut at the age of 18 and instantly becoming a star with her first work, how has the naive Kaity Nguyen changed over time in the showbiz world?

- I've had my ups and downs, and from those experiences, I've come to see things differently. I feel I've matured and no longer face challenges weakly.

Of course, I don't have "nerves of steel," because everyone has moments of weakness. But now, I'm not alone; I have colleagues and partners, so I feel more secure and stronger.

Kaity Nguyen is dubbed the "100 billion dollar beauty" or "100 billion dollar beauty" by the audience and is often compared to another beauty queen, Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc. How do you deal with these comparisons from the audience?

- I think both sisters have their own paths, each with their own interests. I don't have enough expertise or experience to judge anyone's acting skills or career. For me, Lan Ngoc is someone I love and admire very much. I hope to have the opportunity to work with her again someday because I had a great time working with her the first time.

Besides acting, Kaity Nguyen has also started participating in film production and investment, for example, as the Creative Director in "Love Wrongly with a Best Friend". What are your ambitions for film, when Vietnamese cinema has seemed to have a "bottleneck" in terms of scripts for many years?

- I love cinema, and I understand that the weakness of Vietnamese cinema is its scripts. I try to mitigate that by participating in productions, finding partners and screenwriters who can bring fresher scripts. I can't give up my profession just because of a shortage of scripts.

I think that for actors to do their jobs well, producers must create a safe space. Actors need to be confident to shine. That's what I've done from "Em chưa 18" (I'm Not Yet 18) to "Tiệc trăng máu" (Blood Moon Party) and my other films. Because the crew treats the actors so well, the actors will also put in 200% effort and make the films successful.

Has actress Kaity Nguyen considered producing and directing her own film?

- After the film "Blood Moon Party," I began to understand myself better and define a direction that would allow me to be involved with Vietnamese cinema for a longer time. If I have the opportunity and enough experience, I will try my hand at directing.

Right now, I still enjoy film production. Every job requires a certain knack; you can't predict everything. I'm not closing that door, but I understand I need more experience.

I need more experience; it wouldn't be too late to become a director then. Sometimes, trying my hand at directing at 40 or 50 is perfectly fine. But at the moment, I don't know if that will happen.
