In April 2025, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities to organize the 3rd National Singing Contest for People with Disabilities on the occasion of Vietnam Day for People with Disabilities (April 18). The contest, themed "Singing from the Heart", had the participation of contestants from 13 provinces and cities, which were groups that had won high prizes in the previous rounds of the North, Central and South regions. With the spirit of participating responsibly in a large-scale "playground", the Provincial Association for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities was assigned the task of being the focal point for selecting and gathering singers and actors to form a group and practice according to a very methodical plan.
War invalids, disabled people, people with hearing and visual impairments, etc. who actively participate in cultural movements and activities at the grassroots level are selected to join the troupe. The troupe's performances are elaborately staged by a number of prestigious directors and choreographers, and are of various genres such as singing, dancing, music, etc. Localities such as Uong Bi, Ha Long, Dong Trieu (before the merger) and some schools also support extras to practice with the troupe.
The Provincial Association for the Protection of the Disabled and TMC also proactively proposed to benefactors to support with funding and materials to facilitate the rehearsal and thorough preparation in all aspects. The troupe's 3 performances include: "Light the Fire, My Dear", piano medley "Drifting Water Fern - Rice Drum", and choir "I Am a Miner". As a result, the Quang Ninh Disabled People's Art Troupe won 1 Gold Prize, 2 Consolation Prizes, 1 Impressive Prize and the second prize for the entire troupe. This is a worthy recognition for the efforts of 31 actors and singers in the Quang Ninh troupe participating in the competition.

The achievements at the 3rd National Singing Contest for People with Disabilities in 2025 have even more meaning. It is to encourage positive confidence, inspire hundreds, thousands of other people with disabilities in society to be more proactive, constantly strive to overcome difficulties, assert themselves and integrate into the community. At the same time, it is also a vivid proof that the cultural and artistic movement for people with disabilities in the province has always been interested, focused on, and continuously developed strongly in recent times.
For example, at the Dong Trieu Disabled People's Club, after more than 11 years of operation, this place has always been a common home for people in the same situation to find a common voice, understand, and share with each other the joys and sorrows in life. Ms. Nguyen Hai Yen, Club President, said: The activities of the Club always aim to arouse the proactive spirit of members, together improve skills, understand policies, laws, create jobs... to integrate into the community. The art movement is maintained regularly, especially livestream sessions, online music exchanges on social networks. With the support and assistance from the Provincial Disabled People's Support Association, recently the Dong Trieu Disabled People's Club sent athletes to participate in the 2025 National Championship of Sports for People with Disabilities held in Quang Nam and won 1 silver medal in the women's singles pickleball event.
It can be seen that when there is a suitable playground, encouragement and sharing from friends, family, community... people with disabilities of all ages can still develop their talents, abilities and passions. That is the stepping stone to strengthen the belief and determination for people with disabilities to overcome difficulties, inferiority complex, discover their own value and take control of their lives.
Currently, the whole province has nearly 24,000 people with disabilities, of which the group with severe and extremely severe disabilities accounts for more than 90%. Implementing Decision No. 1190/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on the Program to support people with disabilities for the period 2021-2030, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a Plan to implement the Program to support people with disabilities for the period 2026-2030. Strive for 100% of people with disabilities who are eligible for social protection benefits and other assistance regimes every year, especially people with severe and extremely severe disabilities who have no place to rely on to be cared for at social protection facilities; strive for 00% of people with disabilities who need rehabilitation, orthopedic surgery, and support tools in accordance with regulations... |
