According to statistics from the Provincial Red Cross Society, the province currently has 614 Red Cross branches in schools, attracting 11,233 members, with 68,014 teenagers and 26,127 young people participating in Red Cross activities in schools.

Upholding the nation's tradition of compassion, Red Cross branches in schools have proactively developed plans and implemented campaigns such as "Each organization and individual is linked to a humanitarian cause," "Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange," and models like "School to School - Connecting Love," "Wishes for Children," etc.; actively mobilizing organizations and individuals inside and outside the school to donate and support in various ways to create a source of funding to help teachers and students in difficult circumstances overcome challenges in life.
The total value of activities for Red Cross youth in schools during the 2022-2023 school year reached over 20 million VND, providing assistance to 32,154 disadvantaged young people.
In the first semester of the 2023-2024 school year alone, the total value of Red Cross activities in schools reached over 4 billion VND. This included Red Cross chapters at all levels organizing gift-giving and scholarship programs for students during the Lunar New Year (Year of the Dragon) with a total value exceeding 700 million VND; and organizing sponsorship signing ceremonies for 187 orphaned children in the province with a total value of over 237 million VND. Implementing the "Nutrition for Poor and Disabled Children" program launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee, Red Cross chapters at all levels in Lao Cai province mobilized and donated thousands of gifts, including essential goods, school supplies, and clothing, to students in mountainous areas.

Along with humanitarian activities, 100% of the branches in schools have first-aid kits. Many schools actively cooperate with commune and ward health stations to organize medical examinations and provide common medicines for students; implement disease prevention and control measures; develop the "Medicinal Herb Garden" model; and coordinate with organizations and units to promote propaganda work and organize training courses on basic first aid, disaster prevention and response skills, injury prevention, and drowning prevention for teachers and students.

During the 2023-2024 school year, Red Cross branches in schools also promoted the "Voluntary Blood Donation" movement, attracting over 2,000 participants including staff, teachers, and young people, resulting in 1,784 units of blood donated.
Evaluating the results of Red Cross activities in schools, Mr. Vu Viet Truong, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said: Schools and units have created favorable conditions for the effective operation of school Red Cross branches. Every year, schools and educational institutions in the province always pay attention to and focus on consolidating and establishing new Red Cross organizations within schools. The number of school staff, teachers, and students participating in the organization as Red Cross officers, members, youth, and volunteers is increasing and improving in quality. Therefore, the implementation of activities is vibrant and achieves positive results.

Khanh Yen Primary School in Van Ban District has achieved outstanding results in social work, mutual support, and assistance for poor students. Inheriting and promoting the nation's tradition of "mutual support and compassion," during the 2023-2024 school year, the school's Red Cross branch regularly collaborated with various organizations and groups to launch widespread mutual support and fundraising campaigns to help poor students and those in difficult circumstances.
Ha Yen Nhi, a student in class 1D at Khanh Yen Primary School, lost her father at a young age, and her mother, who lacks a stable job, single-handedly raises and educates her. Knowing Yen Nhi's situation, the school's Red Cross branch connected her with benefactors who sponsored her with 1.8 million VND per year, aiming to alleviate some of her hardships and provide her with the motivation to focus on her studies and strive for a better life. Thanks to the care and support of her sponsors, Nhi has become more confident, cheerful, and sociable with her classmates. Along with Nhi, two other students from disadvantaged backgrounds at the school also received support from this meaningful program.
According to Ms. Mai Thi Phuong Thao, the school principal: In the 2023-2024 school year, the school's Red Cross branch mobilized its members to support various charitable funds and programs, raising over 37 million VND; solicited donations from organizations to provide gifts and scholarships to students in difficult circumstances totaling over 116 million VND; and provided support and encouragement to families in difficult circumstances, those suffering from illness, and families of war invalids totaling 49 million VND… Participating in the "Nutrition for Poor Children" program, during the school year, the school connected with social organizations and benefactors to organize three milk donation drives for poor and malnourished students, totaling 2,100 cans of milk.

Red Cross activities in schools not only connect charitable hearts with those in need, but also play a crucial role in educating students' awareness, character development, and life skills while they are still in school.
