Building families with core values ​​of "well-being, happiness, progress, and civilization," many elderly families in An Giang province have strived to overcome difficulties, working together to build happy families and raise their children to be wise and mature adults.


Recognizing the crucial role of women in building a cultured, prosperous, and happy family, the Women's Union at all levels in An Giang province has implemented many activities to enhance the role and status of women in building cultured, prosperous, and happy families.

Women's Union branches at all levels in the province focus on educating women and girls on ethics, lifestyle within the family, parenting skills, and life skills; skills in handling conflicts within the family, skills in raising children well, and building and maintaining happy families through models such as Women's Clubs for Good Child Rearing and Women's Clubs for Building Happy Families... attracting thousands of members and women participants. Simultaneously, they implement programs to develop the economy , promote entrepreneurship, and support women in finding employment and increasing income to improve the quality of life for each family, especially those in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

There are many stories of families whose journey to building happiness has overcome numerous difficulties and ups and downs in life, filled with joy, sorrow, and everyday conflicts… However, in each family, especially those with elderly grandparents and parents, there is a constant striving and effort, contributing brick by brick to build a solid foundation for family happiness and spreading positive family values ​​to many people. These values ​​are love, respect, sharing, and companionship.

The family of Mr. Dang Nhut Tam and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Xung, 67 years old, residing in My Luong hamlet, Phu My town, Phu Tan district, An Giang province, is one of the exemplary cultural families in preserving and promoting the beautiful cultural values ​​of Vietnamese families. Mr. Tam's family is hardworking, resilient, and successful in business, achieving legitimate wealth. Currently, Mr. Tam's family also organizes free vocational training in electrical and refrigeration engineering for people of all ages who want to learn, contributing to job creation and poverty reduction in the locality. Mr. Nhut Tam shared: “In our family, my wife and I regularly teach our children and grandchildren to respect their elders, be considerate to their parents, and be filial. Parents are role models for their children to follow. When life is stable, we help families in more difficult circumstances to alleviate some of their hardships.”

Not only have they overcome difficulties to develop their economy, but the family of Mr. Nguyen Trong Huu and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Thu, residing in Vinh Quoi hamlet, Vinh An commune, Chau Thanh district, An Giang province, also actively participates in local social and charitable activities. Mrs. Thu is the leader of the "Gathering from the Heart, Sharing Love" model, established by the Women's Union of Vinh An commune. Besides mobilizing benefactors within and outside the commune, group members contribute at least 60,000 VND per person per month to purchase necessities and, in collaboration with the Women's Union of the commune, distribute them to disadvantaged individuals and elderly people living alone in the area. Mrs. Thu confided: "In life, couples inevitably have conflicts and disagreements. At those times, my husband and I often sit down and discuss to resolve the issues together. Thanks to this, our family remains close and loving."

In the coming period, the Provincial Association of Elderly People, in coordination with other associations, organizations, and local authorities in the province, will continue to promote propaganda and education to raise awareness among the community, society, and family members about the position and role of the family in the period of industrialization and modernization of the country; encourage the building of cultured families; implement the "Code of Conduct in the Family"; replicate good models and practices in the community; and promptly commend and reward exemplary cultured families.

Women's Unions at all levels in the province have effectively implemented programs and activities to care for the material and spiritual lives of their members and women; supported women's comprehensive development, building prosperous, happy, and civilized families; and continued to implement the campaigns "Building families with 5 no's and 3 clean's" and "Families with 5 yes's and 3 clean's," contributing to nurturing the beautiful values ​​of Vietnamese families.
